For a 2012, that's a great deal, plus you should be able to work them down a couple hundred.
cycletrader is another good website to check out...try your best to buy from a private owner, and it's also best to take a mechanic with you to make sure everything is legit (disregard that if you are a motorcycle person already and know this stuff) |

You could do worse. Always check eBay prices also. And cycletrader.com.

It's a really good deal considering you wouldn't have to pay dealership fees. I'd jump on it personally!

Aww this guy won that sweepstakes? Too bad I didn't win, I would've actually used it. 75 miles... jeez
Anyway, yeah that's a good asking price man. Most in my area would be asking dealership prices for that. |

Still no response... What about this bike..Site says bike has been lowered...do they mean lowered in price or the bike has been lowered closer to the ground for those who are not too tall?

They mean lowered with lowering links (so yes, closer to the ground). Which you can undo if you wish. However, sometimes they also cut the kickstand, so you might need to get a replacement for that, too. There are adjustable-in-height kickstands available also, fyi.

Is it better to have it lowered? Kickstand is still there I can see it from the picture.

Give him the $3,800. It's a great deal. Why risk losing it for $300?

If so you can try bringing the price down. Don't try to lowball to much, but see if he'll take slightly less. If not then at least it's a hell of a deal anyway.

You will need a bill of sale in which you can put whatever price on it. State's these days will try to get you on taxes no matter what. Some states will try to charge you taxes on what THEY think is the fair price if they feel you paid too little. (yes, this happens, FL tried to do it to me with the ninjette when I moved down here for a sale that never happened in their state) The gift approach might or might not work depending on the state these days really. I would suggest to talk to your insurance as well. It's always best to cover that base just to be on the safe side. Some states don't require motorcycle insurance (FL for example), but many do.

Congratulations. You got a great deal
Be sure you have insurance coverage on it before you ride it. Call a number of companies for insurance quotes because they vary widely; in my case I got quotes from $350/yr to $1500/yr for the same coverage! Call your local DMV for procedure about plates and transfer because each State is different. |

Plates = registration. What about Title? She does have the title for it, right? In her name?

Okay. Not sure how it works in NY, but in IL you can get it registered (and plated) at the same time that you title it in your name. At the DMV. I'd be surprised if the process was much different.
You can find some standard forms for a motorcycle bill of sale by doing a google search. And like others have said, get it insured before you ride it. You can get some online quotes for comparison purposes from Progressive and Geico. |
