Never using choke
Hey guys, before i got a dynojet kit installed on my 09 ninja i always had to use the choke. Now on start up every morning it doesnt need choke at all. If i do use the choke it will die every time. I got the kit installed in January so it was still pretty cold outside. Is this normal with a jet kit installed? I talked to a mechanic about it and he said that every bike is different and if doesnt require choke then i got a good bike. For some reason that just sounds weird.
Mods on my bike: Danmoto slip-on, dyno jet jet kit, and pipercross air filter. Thanks. |

Ive never had to use the choke, even in the cold. But then again my bike has a factory pro jet kit, so my input is probably useless...

I only choke if we agree on a safeword before hand. Otherwise, things can get a little intense.

The choke just adds more gas. If your bike doesn't need more gas and you put on full choke it could definitely sputter and die.

My bike acts the same way, When it was stock I had to start with the choke half way even on hot days, just had a Full Area-P, Dyno-jet kit, Kleen Air sys. removed, snorkel removed,K&N Filter, I had a shop install the jet kit and dyno the bike. Got it back a couple of weeks ago and haven't had to use the chock yet.

every bike is different, it depends on tons of factors including climate, altitude, time of day, if you need to get somewhere on time or not, etc. if you dont need to choke the bitch, cool. if you do, cool. as long as it runs well when warmed up you can pretty much ignore it.

When I bought my bike, the idle speed was too low. So, it would just die, after running for about ten seconds. I increased the idle, and now the choke actually works. Before I didn't even notice a difference in the performance of the bike when I used the choke before adjusting it. Each bike is different, and if they're not set-up properly (like mine), then you sometimes have to adjust a few things here and there.

Also, wheel wasn't aligned properly, and the suspension wasn't bolted on completely. At any given time, by rear suspension could have just fallen off !!! LMAO

I wish! Right now I just go around a muddy yard...it's hard because the wheel sinks into the ground. If I put to much throttle the wheel just spins, and I start falling over. I sound like a pro...that makes me happy

Nick, let me introduce you to sarcasm.
Oh, you've already been introduced? Oh that's right, alex introduced you two. Funny, you acted like you didn't recognize each other... huh. |

...wait a second now im confusing chode and justin. oh well, they're both insignificant side-characters. they probably don't even effect the plot.

If you don't need to choke your bike on a cold-start, i'd worry (a little bit) that it is running too rich when it warms up. Check your plugs to see if it is fine for the longer rides?

plugs are really only a good indicator of the main jets.

Well, I would make sure to check the choke as you leave the neighborhood
but no, it won't make a huge impact unless you leave it on all the time. |

On most carb'd engines, a choke reduces the air, choking the engine.
The "choke" on the 250 is a starting enrichener. Pulling the lever opens some plungers and adds more fuel to the mix. Same amount of air. But we still call it the choke |
