Looks like the US... it's illegal to not pull over to let emergency vehicles pass here. (lights and/or sirens on)

Normally I'd be like "grr, cops" but those guys were acting like idiots.

Not sure what that cop had in mind but he quickly turned his lights off when he figured out there was no way he was going to pull everyone over.

I agree with @miss_syn that the bikes should have slowed down and pulled over to the right side of the road.

"Brake check?!" I saw a bike dart in front of the cruiser causing him to slow down. He then changes multiple lanes as another bike tries to pass (the real gaffe, IMO).

I had to look up "gaffe". Never heard it used like that before.

Over here some of us say "gaff" to refer to our home.

"I'll drop by your gaff later to pick up those things."

What a bunch of morons. I hate that "I'm going to break the law and blame the law for my problems" attitude. Call me old-fashioned, but I have respect for authority, and I don't believe anyone is above the law.

Dammit! I was going to come back and say "Oops! typo. I meant to say 'giraffe.' Sorry. 'Gaffe' makes no sense. Carry on."

Anyway, I didn't know "gaff" until now, so I learned something too!

I give people respect when they earn it. Some of the laws in your country (mine too) are extremely f'ed up: ie the 2012 NDAA indefinite detention without trial provision. Blind respect for authority figures is responsible for unimaginable amounts of human suffering and environmental destruction. I think for myself.

FYI: I don't like what those people are doing in the video.

I agree. Blind respect is a terrible thing. In the case of police and the like, they already have my respect because of their willingness to serve. However, they can quickly earn my disrespect by disrespecting me.

The bikers (nearly all of them) are acting stupid, plain and simple. What part of "move right and slow down / stop for emergency vehicles" is so complicated? What's not shown in the video is whatever predicated the cop turning on the lights and going after one of these morons. Video starts here: http://goo.gl/maps/VCV2 and proceeds over the 20B exit toward Kansas City. Plenty of space for the bikers to get out of the way... which means they were blocking intentionally in order to get someone out of a possible ticket. The cop most likely got plates and the infractions will catch up eventually... this sort of activity is NEVER a good idea, regardless of how much you may think the cop is in the wrong. Save it for your day in court.

Agreed. Cop's tactics are questionable at best. However, that doesn't make the guys not pulling over and slowing down any less wrong. Save it for the courtroom, because a 3-400lb bike vs 3-4000lb car is a losing fight any way you cut it.

Regardless of how much 'stupid' is already apparent in a situation, one should strive to act in such a way that their actions introduce no additional 'stupid' to the equation.

Just sayin'.

I don't believe anyone was right in this respect... The bikes should've pulled over and the cops should've never put those bikes in that much danger..... All involved were morons!!!!!! Cops around here don't deserve respect. They don't listen and they have absolutely no humanity..... I understand their job is tough but they can still have more pleasant attitudes while doing it. If you hate your job that much, quit and do somehting you like better. The bikes didn't need to make the cops job any harder then it is. They should've jsut let him pass. If the cop truely was trying to pull everyone over, then the cop is a bigger dumba$$ then originally posted. IMHO

Actually, only two or three of the bikes in the video had a plate and one of those was probably counted twice (rider I already counter soon passed). Those weren't stunting and would probably just claim that it was coincidence and that they weren't with those guys.

They knew what they were doing.

Agreed! If you come at me throwing your position of authority around like it makes you a better person I'm gonna throw it back at you! But if you come at me with respect I'll show you the same! I remember being 15 years old yelling at a cop to get the F off my property because he came into my yard being a douche when I had done nothing wrong. Come at me (Bro lol j/k) with respect or don't come at me at all

They knew what they were doing.
It appears a couple of the bikes had their plates mounted at at the 'front' of the rear fender (just above the rear wheel), and any others may not have been visible if placed there, due to video resolution and lighting. They may have thought they knew what they were doing, but if this were any sort of regular occurrence, it's not too difficult for the cops to block off-ramps and set up a roadblock for these morons.

Oh, and Cringer, steal away. Occasionally all the brain cells fire together and I say something both relevant and coherent at the same time.

It's more common than you'd think. If they are who I think they are (Ruff Ryders), these hooligans often set up their own roadblocks and turn the freeway into a stationary stunting lot.

Again, the way I see it, they have earned it by saying "sure, I'll go out and put my life on the line to protect strangers". I think it's better practice to respect people in general unless they give you a reason not to.

growing up in bad neighborhoods made me believe respect is earned.
a job or uniform doesn't earn it, actions are what earns respect.

don't confuse respect with having good manners or being polite.
i'm always polite.
