Vibration!!!!!!

My 2004 Ninja 250 vibrates like crazy the faster I go, not shaking but vibration. It get's so bad that on long rides my hands become numb, especially my fingers. It is as though my fingers are falling asleep. I know that on 250's this is the norm but is there any recommendations on a way to reduce the amount of "felt" vibration? Would foam grips help? I feel like I have carpel tunnel going on in my wrists after only 350 miles on the bike.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.

I was very surprised to find all three of my engine mount bolts had come loose. The two rear ones have nuts and the front one goes into a blind nut that is welded to the frame. If they are loose, use some Loctite when you re secure them.

I was also surprised by how loose my engine mount bolts were. At 6000 miles, the bolts have needed to be retightened three times. At one point, one of the bolts was so loose that it was nearly "finger" tight. I'm using blue Loctite next time.

Use a torque wrench.

Vibration!!!

After only 350 miles! It's a sport bike not a cruiser, much over 100 miles is cruel and unusual punishment on a ninjette. I admire your tenacity. It shouldn't vibrate that much, mine doesn't. But as the others said "check engine bolts" first, don't grip the bars; just hold them gently and if all that fails think of changing out the gearing (see posts on "Sprockets" above).

High frequency vibrations I think are norm for this bike; it's very hard to get a smooth two cylinder motor unless they're opposed pistons like BMW. I've got the stock bars and bar end weights on my '06, but run gel grips and gel gloves. When I ride I don't grip the bars; a tight grip transmits more vibration energy into my hands. Since going with gel grips and modifying my hand position I haven't had any problems with numbness or fatigue. I may fill the bars with steel or lead shot in the future just to see what happens.
