RIP ninja, hello ER. (GRAPHIC PIC)

I was on my way to a funeral, going about 30mph, when a lady decides to make a left-turn in front of me. I tried breaking, but to no avail. I smashed the side-view mirror with my hip and flew INTO her windshield, making a huge crater that covered the entire thing. Then rolled onto her hood and for some reason grabbed on to it. She came out and said "OMG, I'm so sorry. I didn't see you! Are you OK!?"
I Looked around a bit and then said "b*tch, call an ambalamps" (I didn't really say the b*tch part) all while still splayed on her hood. I knew right away that my hip/back took a hard impact so I yelled "thank you!" when I felt that I was able to wiggle my toes. Some good-hearted samaritans helped me to the floor and one of them gave me her business card and said that she had witnessed the entire thing. I took a look at my bike and all I could see was fairings split open. Like someone had thrown a grenade in the gas tank. I am almost certain it's totaled. The medics came and transported me to USC.

Today I made the mistake that I thought I never would. I violated the sacred code of atgATT and paid the price!
I wore all of my gear except my jacket (BIG MISTAKE, DUMBASS). And thanks to that mistake I now have 19 stitches across my back and a horrible contusion to my hip/back/ass. I know for a fact that the jacket would have absorbed most, or all of the gash and (thanks to my upgraded back pad) most of the impact. But I'm an idiot, so it didn't. The good news is that my boots saved my kankles, my gloves saved my sausage fingers and my helmet saved my dome. All three show signs of damage.
I'll post pics when I get the chance.

So once again guys, wear ATGATT! Even if your going to a funeral that is 5 blocks from your house!!!!
Ride safe fellowmen!!!

I haven't had a chance to take pics of the bike yet because it hurts like hell to fart, let alone walk:/ Here's a pic of one of wounds. I'll update more later.
Will someone show me how to make the pic smaller? It's so big it's like I'm IN the wound.

Every now and then I wear jeans instead of riding pants when going down the street or something... I always worry that something similar will happen.

Regardless, heal fast brother!

Ouch! Feel better and heal up soon. Any word on insurance/fault (esp. for the medical bills)?
Also, just curious but did you do any 'lane weaving' to make sure she saw you? I always do little "S" curves in my lane when I'm nearing intersections and such to increase my profile.
*hugs*

Heal up man, my sisters fiance make the same mistake. He was going for a quick ride around the block since he just put his exhaust on, lack of maintenance or whatever led to his bike going WOT on him and he panicked (this was on a cbr600, not a 250). Luckily he said something in his mind told him at least put your helmet on, but he didnt put his gloves or jacket on and his shoulder and elbow got messed up pretty bad. All within sight of their house. He has since sold his bike and has no plans on getting another, i asked him why didnt he just pull the clutch in but i guess he didnt react fast enough. Get better and hope this event doesnt scare you off 2 wheels!!

Glad to hear you are going to be ok, though. That sounds really painful.

Wow, it sucks, I wish you speedy recovery!

We have to remember that this time of the year especially, we have to ride slower and be ready to not be seen, since they are virtually no bikes on the road, so cagers don't even think to look for them.

No word on insurance yet but I am fairly certain she will be found at fault and have to pay out (IF she has insurance) *fingers crosses*
And no, I didn't do any weaving but I def. should have been:/

AS for the bike, I'm guessing it's totaled. The front, sides, and rear left fairing are trashed, forks are mangled, radiator damaged, bars bent, sliders snapped off, and my tire has been practically pushed into the bike. Oh yeah, the tire cowl thingy is f*cked too. Does this seem like a total-loss to you guys?

With all that I bet the frame is bent and that's basically a Ninjette's death sentence Maybe you'll be joining the 300 club soon with me :P

FYI, Great Video on the swerving I talked about - I feel I post this link a lot but it's just good:

The insurance will probably total that. However, me personally, I don't usually consider the bike totaled unless the engine is destroyed or the frame is bent. But in any case, its definitely worth less now than before the accident.
