Keeping centerstand w/aftermarket exhaust

I'm in the process of fitting some aftermarket exhaust cans and would appreciate any tips on how to deal with preventing the centerstand from contacting the chain now that it won't get stopped by the original muffler.

I've searched around here and haven't found any way to deal with this. I plan to get under the bike today to try to deal with this specific item but could use some ideas. Just need a simple and safe way to limit the travel and avoid chain contact.

Losing the centerstand is not an option for me so let's avoid that discussion.

Thanks!

Thanks for the link. I went through the bike this morning and found that the only position where I can tuck the stand away without it looking awful will clear the bottom of the chain horizontally but is too close laterally.

The chain tends to move up and down with tension and slack but it can easily move laterally (a tiny bit) under a jerky acceleration/deceleration. In order to clear the chain laterally the stand needs to be pretty low resulting in a bizarre appearance.

I'm a little bummed but intend to remove it and install it temporarily when working on the bike (as suggested in the link). I've used rear/front stands in the past and they're just not as convenient as a centerstand, they ain't free and they add to my garage clutter.

In the photo you can see what little tolerance there would be if I kept the stand at a level that wouldn't make it an eyesore.

Question: Will the center stand be used for everyday parking situations or are you wanting it for maintenance?

Would think that if you keeping it duals the cans would hide the center stand.

Yeah, the stock set-up hid the stand quite well, but the new cans are smaller and mount much higher.

I'll just install the stand for maintenance/repairs. I guess it's not a huge deal, it was just so convenient having it there all the time especially now that I've begun my mods. Oh well.

I installed an Area P 2 into 1 exhaust and install the center stand just for maintenance purposes. Easy on / Easy off.

Yeah, seems like a reasonable solution.

I attempted the dual center stand on/off thing, then got some threaded bungs welded onto my swingarm for spool lifts instead.

Mine won't hang down, it's firmly up against the bottom of the chain.

I can see it becoming a bit of a hassle but I think I'm cheap enough to deal with it

What I do is just slip 3/8" bolts in the centerstand holes instead of threading the stock bolts in when I need to work on the bike.

It won't wobble around?

Not that I've ever noticed, you do lose a fraction of an inch rise height because the holes are bigger than the bolts

Could you attach a spacer to the center-stand so it will hang where it belongs and not smack the chain?

Yup, extend bumper so it contacts smaller muffler placing centrestand at original location

With how high the new can is mounted, the bumper doesn't touch anything anymore.

It's cool, I'll just reinstall it for maintenance.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Another idea is to weld little post under muffler to contact bumper of centrestand.

Yeah, the less weight thing is getting interesting as my build progresses.
