gas in oil questions

Went on the normal Sunday ride with some buddys today. We hit up this big clover ( on and off ramps that if u stay on them make a huge 4 leaf clover) on a country hwy. We went nonstop on it for 25 mins or so. Right after we pulled off and chatted. Get back on the bike it starts normal. 2 miles down the road I went to give it some gas to get up to 80 when the rpms drop and the throttle doesn't do anything. I pull off the hwy. Try and start it a few times and nothing. I look into the peep oil and its just solid black fluid ugh I just put rotella t in it 400 miles ago. I'm freaking out as it could be numerous things. 15 mins later I try to start it again and she fires right up. I limp it home (not my smartest move) stop and get gas ( it starts right up again). I get home drain the fluid and there is a ton of gas in the oil but weirdly the oil looked decent not black like the peep showed. I tossed in some 10w 40 I had in the garage. Took it around the block and the oil seems normal according to the peep. Can anyone explain what happened? Did the choke somehow get stuck and flood the engine? Did I get some dirt in a carb? Was it the 25 mins of 60-70mph leaning? I figured I would run some seafoam through the tank next weekend and change the filter and oil again. Thanks for the help guys!

How do you know you had gas in the engine oil? Did the volume of oil go way up? No air/fluid level in the peep glass with the bike level? The blackness you saw wasn't just from a different light or sunglasses if it looked fine when you drained it?
You're freaking out but there may be nothing wrong with this. The hard starting when hot may not be related to any of this. I assume you didn't have the kill switch in the off position and forget to set it to the run position.

My other hobby is building cars to race. I drained the oil and u could tell by smell there was gas in the oil along with some physical evidence in the oil. The volume of oil did go up and there was no air in the peep all black fluid. I have a smoked visor but looked 3 times with my helemet off. Killswitch was not engaged. Just a little weird that this happened. Ill keep a eye on it next weekend for sure

It sounds like you had the typical "run hard, short cool down, run hard" stall that many of us have. We suspect that it's a tank venting problem due to a vacuum forming when it cools (opening the tank always seems to restore gas flow). FWIW, I had the dealer put in Rotella T6 and my oil level seems higher than it was (a bit over the full line). I didn't suspect gas though. Also, switching to T6 and finding the levels high was well after I identified the stalling issue. How do you know it was gas and not coolant? Smell? Edit: OIC

That does make sense. I only got a 5ish min cool down. There was most def gas in the oil though. Drained the fluid and u could smell it on the finger and under the oil cap lid. Had my gf's dad smell it and he too said gas. Didn't smell like coolant at all. The fluid was jet black and the peep hole I had 2 buddys I was riding with look at it on the side of the hwy.

Yeah the stall issue sounds the same as what we have trying to fix for a while now.

As for the gas in the oil... total seperate issue I believe. I'd make sure the petcock is set to on and not prime. The only way gas can make it to the oil is thru the carbs right. Would have to be a stuck float or faulty needle valve in the carb. Any work, maintenace, or mods been done recently?

Here is a picture for you. It controls the flow of fuel to the carbs. It is located behind the side panel on the left side of the bike. It should normally be in the "on" position unless your carbs are dry. "Prim" will open the flow and fill the carb bowls.

Awesome picture I will check that out and report back. I will also read in the manual about checking the float cable. Thanks for the help!
