is it normal for ninja to run hot?????

Lately Ive been noticing that while riding more than about 20 miles on my 09 ninja.
It starts to really get hot around the fairings/seat/
My thighs really start to heat up..

I checked my coolant level, and it was low so I topped it off.
It is still getting really hot.. Is this normal for a ninja??

It gets really uncomfortable.. I never noticed this before on my other ninja..

if its warm out and your running it for a while then yeah its normal.. i can usually start to feel some warmth after about 30mins or so of riding. also do you hear your fans kick on at anytime? even after you shut it down?

I can't say that I have ever noticed the heat warming up my thighs - but hell, the heat here in Central Texas could be a reason the bike just runs hot. During these months, I only ride early in the mornings on the weekends - I stay out of the heat on my bike, so I may not be the best answer.

especially if you grip the sides tight with your legs you probably will feel it more. i dont ride a whole lot more then 30 or so miles at once but on the times i have ive felt my legs getting hot so im gonna say its normal.

Yea, mine runs hot around that area as well. Over time, long day of riding, heat comes out the sides of the fairings right around that area. It might be possible to redirect the air somewhere else but I dont know how that would affect the cooling properties of the bike.

There's a 249cc internal combustion engine inside those fairings, so yeah, it gets a little hot.

As long as the temp warning light doesn't come on, you're fine.

The only time it gets uncomfortable for me, is in warm weather with a cross-breeze. The cross-breeze seems to blow the heat onto a leg that otherwise wouldn't.
