Group Ride for Skyline Drive - Virginia
When the weather warms up, maybe we can get a few of us (Virginia, Maryland, ??) together and do this ride. It is 105 miles one way and the "speed limit" is 35 mph!!
Check it out: http://www.nps.gov/shen/planyourvisi...line-drive.htm |

I have heard about this one... Though I heard it wasn't as good as the Skyline in the Bay Area California.. I don't believe that one is as long though... Keep me in the loop on this one! I am certainly game.

When are you talking for this ride? The way this weather is you must mean June since you said when it warms up.

Blue Tyke...Skyline drive is a bit closer than CA! Guess we will have to make do.
CC Cowboy...Definitely later in the year. You can check the status in the upper right hand corner of the link. All three stages (Sounds like the Tour de France) are closed at the moment! |

Well just a little closer than CA
Depending no when it is arranged. I have a few plans for the summer but I certainly want to give this a shot.

Blue Tyke...you sure are sneaky. I see how you keep that post count up! One question per post! I guess I could get a little mileage by posting answers....one at a time.
Start of the Ride? I was thinking Front Royal...the normal start point. There maybe fellow ninjettes, who live farther south. I guess majority would have to rule. I actually considered doing it alone....roundtrip from NOVA (roughly 330 miles). I'm open to suggestions. Nothing is set...at the moment. |

Actually that was pure laziness on my part. That and I was about to go to lunch and wanted to post the question before I forgot (I don't think I have ever double posted like that before)
For starting point.. Front Royal is the northern most tip. That would be a bit better for me to get to. Just means I will also have to come back up!

I have heard that it is better to end at Front Royal (atleast when you start down south and ride up on the Blue Ridge Parkway). The entire Blue Ridge is free but Skyline cost $10 to ride on. They are beautiful roads with breath taking views and lots of wildlife. I've done each many times on bikes and in cars. Last time I took the route I noticed many bikes pulled over and ticketed. First time I rode them the feds only had Ford Broncos and couldn't catch anything so they didn't bother you. Springtime when everything is in bloom is beautiful.

The Blue Ridge is a much nicer drive IMO - has a higher speed limit of 45 as well, but if you don't want to ride 45, no one really minds because it's so beautiful - and as enzo mentioned, it's free!

eh im in va beach......just be very careful the cops will find any little thing to hand out citations. you can be as legal and within the law as you think you are, but riding in a group down the va beach strip isint the best idea. did you also know theres a no cruising law down on the strip? dont let them see you passing by them more than twice. its almost come to the point of harassment, but they are trying to keep the area very "family friendly" it is not like most beach/resort areas in the east coast and south where its a real party town. just remember the good ole commonwealth of VA and local laws of va beach may not be what you are used to and seem a lil absurd at times. I am not trying to draw you away, just a fair warning to be careful. There are a lot of places to ride while youre down here that doesnt involve the immediate va beach tourist areas. If you have any more questions let me know.

No date has been set by me; however, there is nothing stopping anyone from doing it by themselve, at their convenience. Personally, I can't see it happening prior to May for me (work ).

I know I want to have Tyke broken in by this one... I would much rather take the freeways to get down there... And you have no idea how much it hurts to say that ><'
