Upshifting...

...not sure if I am doing it wrong but it seems that I am in 6th gear on the 250 really quick, like before I hit 45 mph. Is that normal?

I have only had my 250 for a few days now and I recently passed the MSF so it is still really new to me.

I went on route 6 today and got it up to 80 mph no problem, was keeping up with traffic well but it was high on the rpm's. How does this bike handle long periods of time at the higher rpm's if you are doing constant interstate riding?

Everything is fine - the gears are short and the Ninja 250r loves high RPMs. A long highway run at high RPMs is no problem.

Don't worry and enjoy.

Yep you are fine. If you are running lets say 60 MPH, your tach will roughly read around 7000 or a hair more. The ninjette was made for running in the 5k to 9k range around town and I have done plenty of interstate riding at 75mph (around 9 or 10k).
