i got a vfr800
today i bought a 1999 vfr800. the guy let me ride it before buying and it felt great.
anyway, my thanks to the folks on here who helped me in my journey with my ninjette. and my ninjette, a yellow 2006 in good condition with 12,500 miles and a handy homemade (easily removable) box on the back, will be for sale. i will post something in the classifieds on this site (we have those here right?) in a couple days. it will also be on the philadelphia craigslist. thanks. and thanks alex for running this place. --eric |

I would ride the hell out of a VFR800. They just look amazing, they're not too out there on the sportiness, but they're not plain or ugly like sport tourers usually are. They're very comfortable, has enough power, but not too much, to be fun anywhere, and is light enough (about 500lbs).
Pics would be great. In 99... That has gear driven cams and doesn't have VTEC right?

tried to attach a pic, hope it worked.
yes, from 98-01 is 5th gen, gear driven cams but not vtec. it is yellow & has metric instruments. since the US only got red ones in 99 i am guessing it came in from canada at some time. i was afraid of the weight but it does not feel heavy at all. everything about it is very smooth. i rode an fz6 on friday, which is a nice bike, but i like the feel of this one much better. it came with new tires, a ventura pack system on the back, and a tank bag. it has 16K miles on it. oh and it has a two brothers carbon fiber slip on and i LOVE the sound. (and i generally hate noisy bikes) center stand and single sided swing arm should make chain adjusmtents and rear tire changes easier. besides the fact that i really like it, these older vfrs just seem like a lot of bike for the money. the 4th gen 750s are substantially cheaper but they have carbs and i am told parts are getting hard to find.
