Naw... having written my share of "random" algorithms to accomplish different things, bugs are common. Fact is, computers don't do random very well, it's not in their nature or design.

For example; Create 2 random number generators quickly enough, and they commonly give the same exact list. Not very random if ya ask me...

Example 2: If you were to use the stock built in random() functions in your programming api, you will laughed right out of the security and crypto conference as a n00b.

With a small set of data to work with, your gunna see patterns in the results. Unless the programmers of the plugins put in a more than average effort to get something a little more realistic.

Every time I had to make a random number generator in C++ that didn't teach me anything, I'd make my program open and close the CD drive annoyingly before I sent in my assignment.

Time how long it takes for the drive to enter it's open and then it's closed state and you've got some entropy right there

Didn't want to bother poor Dab with an e-mail: just a brief message to those few folks who look at the user spotlight thread.

Just thought it was an interesting (and minimalist) user name and it's good to see the "random select" feature seems to be working and good to see the broader definition of active use also works.

I think one thing it's highlighting for me is how many people don't put a picture into their avatar or profile pic. I was excluding users before unless they had a pic to show, and I'm somewhat surprised at how few users take the time to add those pics. There is a nastygram/reminder that shows up in the messages area of the screen up until you reach 10 posts to show how to add those pics, but looking through the Member List (pull down community menu), you can see that it's generally a minority that add 'em.

I had thought it would be good for all of them to have pics to jazz up that main forum screen when they are highlighted, but it seems like it's not that big of a deal without.
