Can't imagine being with someone that long and not being married.

I'm married, FWIW.

Your poll options kinda suck. They should include "single". JMHO. Didn't vote

Marriage is just a piece of paper that gets you some tax breaks

Single and content, aslo I don't believe in the concept of marriage. Need better poll options.

That's covered under the "keep all my stuff" option.

married.

and kept all my stuff.

actually, I bought my motorcycle about 6 months AFTER being married.

after 10 years, you should be able to be pretty frank with her about a proposal. Some couples are content not having the official marriage, others not so much. Some people are monogamous, others, not so much. It all depends on what category you two fall in.

Gotta give the girl credit tho. Been dating mine for 3 years and this past year it has been a weekly topic with her . So for her to last 10 years is pretty damn good.

But i do plan on asking her this weekend on sat. Got the ring almost a month ago.

Years and years ago, I was out of town quite a bit for consulting. Would fly home each weekend, and my wife (to-be at the time) was generally in charge of weekend plans. Who are we going out with, where are we going, what are we doing, etc. After a number of years, I was informed one weekend that our plans were to go into NYC and go ring-shopping. There weren't any other options offered for that weekend.

If you think marriage is for you, then go for it.

Ten years seems like a long time, but I was with my ex-wife for a total of twelve years before we parted ways, so time doesn't necessarily mean anything. To be honest though, in examining what happened, we both realized that we started to drift apart around the nine year mark. Everything just compounded from there until one day I realized I no longer loved her.

If your relationship is better now than it has ever been, and you really feel it, then go for it. I wish you the best of luck.

Married 27 years as of next month.

Haven't killed her yet.

On the other hand, she hasn't killed me yet, either.

Seriously, we get along pretty well, all things considered.

When an interviewer asked Michael Caine what the secret to remaining happily married for 40 years was, he replied "separate bathrooms."

There is considerable wisdom in that statement. For anyone considering tying the knot, remember that at the end of the day it's about living with someone. The best spouses are also good roommates.
