Carb Slide Orientation
Hey folks just rebuilt my carbs and like a dummy I took apart both carbs to clean . Sooo........ Where's the vent hole go under the slide - does it face the aircleaner side or the engine side ?
thanks in advance - Would like to get them reassembled, mounted and the bike running before my wife makes me come in to eat turkey .......... hehehe |

if the pre gens are anything like the new gens, the slides will only fit in the carbs one way. try it and see.

Nope , the slides are symmetrical they fit either way .Even the bottoms are , Thought they'd be tapered or designed for increased air velocity but they aren't . Thought the diaphragms would have a tab or notch but they don't either. Hmm

hmmmm, that's interesting... IIRC, when I tried mine by flipping them around they wouldn't go in.
Guess there is a difference in the carbs??? Can someone with both pregen and new gen carbs comment?? |

Oh G-Whiz - Thanks KKim
Got me thinking , took it apart again and tried to put back together backwards YOU are correct , it fits only one way . The fins are offset from center - life is good again (see pic -btw notice carb slide sitting on dinner table next to dinner rolls....shhh man she'd kill me ! ) . I could have been riding around and honestly say "I didn't hear you" when asked to come in for dinner and making nice with the in-laws ! I remember on another bike I had the carb slides could fit either way and it made a funny stumble so......... oh well live and learn Have a great T-Day folks - well what's left of it |

cool... good to know that the carbs on these bikes are all the same as mentioned earlier.
enjoy btw, did you shim the needles and remove the mixture screw plugs while you had the carbs apart? |
