How goofy do I look in this?

I bought some gear at Amazon and screwed up. I now have motocross pants.

They fit great and have excellent airflow but I wonder how odd I look. So if you saw me on the road wearing this setup, how hard would you point and laugh?

looks fine to me.

the problem I'd have is the lack of proper armor for the street. are you going to wear something for armor under it?

I wouldn't point and laugh -- honestly, I would be too busy drooling on your white Ninjette to even notice you.

But I would be concerned about abrasion protection from motocross pants going freeway speeds. I mean, I suppose they're no worse than jeans, but I'd still spring for a pair of streetbike pants.

I think it looks fine.... but do excuse me if I smile when I pass by you in Dallas... BTW... a Puig screen that I have up for sale would look fine on that white bike.... smoked and good as new.... $ 40.00 no shipping as you are local...just meet up and I'll pass it on to you. Think about it.. a nice smoked Puig Racing Screen... oh yes baby!

Well, it has pockets inside for kneepads and pads for the upper hip area so I plan to put some good ones in there.

As far as abrasion protection goes, I'm not exactly sure how it would handle a fall, but these pants are MUCH thicker than the jeans I normally wear so I figure it's gotta at least be an upgrade.

Not as goofy as this squid I saw the other day riding in shorts. Seriously though, I wouldn't even think they were motocross pants unless you pointed that out in your post. They're fine.

Yea, they look fine. I would not have noticed they were motocross pants either. They do look a little baggy in the knee so I would be concerned that the pads might move around. If they do, you might want to get knee protection that straps to your legs and wear them under the pants. So that way they will be where you need them in the event you do need them.

They look fine. However since it is protective gear it doesnt matter how good you look if you go down.

I primarily do dual sport riding, and i ride with mesh street gear because of the padding and abrasion resistance i get for the street parts of my riding. Motocross gear is usually cheaper and good for what it does, but when you go down in dirt, its a bit softer then sliding across asphalt. My .02.

Oh I should warn you. I bought these two sizes bigger like the comments recommended and I don't think I could get them over pants that well. Maybe three sizes larger would work.

Also I added the pockets for pads they don't come with them. Aside from that, all is good.

Actually I went to Walmart in this setup and got plenty of weird looks, kids would point at me like 'Hey mom look!'. Not sure how I feel about that

How would you feel about skin-grafts? The only thing wrong with those pants is, as already pointed out, the lack of abrasion protection (assuming you get knee/shin guards and wear them).

I am sure people laugh at me all day long when I am on my wife's bike (and I'm sure mine as well). I couldn't care less, because if I do take a spill, I am protected far better for it.

it is a bit flashy. when you are riding then it matches your bike and looks fine. but yeah, once you separate yourself from the bike (ie go shopping at the mall), it would stand out a lot more.

i am starting to go more towards the low-key gear lately. then again, i am getting old.

about the kid.... he/she probably thought it looked cool.

+1 could care less what the guy or gal in the car next to me thinks.
I have been down on the track at highway speeds and I got up and walked away. No worse for the wear.
BTW I wear motocross boots

Honestly, they probably weren't looking at the pants. Little kids point and comment on motorcyclists in general. It's generally a positive thing.
