Jetkit advice

I'm thinking I really need to rejet my bike and I was curious which brands you would recommend

My setup:
Stock carbs/jets
twobros slipon (came with the bike)
kleen system delete
snorkel removed
stock airbox with K&N dropin filter

I've noticed the bike doesn't pull well at WOT and is sluggish in higher gears :/

I have heard that Factory Pro works better for race bikes *note that we have the Airbox AND snorkel in*

My bike pulled hard and smooth when I had the airbox completely removed with a full exhaust and Dynojet kit.

Yeah the plan is to get a full exhaust system in the future but I can't afford one yet :/ and I want to keep the airbox

Uh, I've read a lot about it and their is no clear evidence that removing the airbox nets you a significant gain in power... and I don't want my bike any louder than it is.

I bought my bike with the airbox removed.

I now have an airbox in so that I can qualify for racing.

Remove the airbox

What if I want to race though

I think I'm gonna save some $$ and buy jets individually

Any idea what is causing my WOT to not be responsive?

Don't throw the air box away? Duh! You're losing power at the top end?

What do your plugs look like?
When was your last valve adjustment?
Did you shim the needles?

Just changed my plugs and gaped them recently
Valve adjustment - I have no idea if the previous owner did or not the bike has 9000 miles on it
I shimmed with two washers because it was running lean when I first bought the bike

It would not make sense to re-jet if the valve adjustment is incorrect. You could possibly be chasing a phantom carb problem.

When you say the bike is sluggish, what do you mean? Bogs? slow to accelerate? loosing power? starving for gas? What gears and rpms speeds does it occur?

Its hard to say because my rpm indicator is busted - I'm waiting on the GB from koso.

I would say it pulls fine in 1st 2nd and 3rd but the rest I have very slow acceleration or bogging down/loosing power (like WOT does hardly anything), then again it just might be I'm not reving it enough... but I can't tell by the engine noise once I get into a situation where I am going 45+mph

And I already took apart the carbs and cleaned them : /

Would you say when you change gears to 4th & turn the throttle, it's more than 1/2 way?

I think so... I really need my gauge fixed to figure out what is wrong

I find if i roll on the throttle slowly the bike responds best, anything else and I get major power loss... I need to ride it more though

I'll do another update when I get the gauge fixed so I can know for sure what is going on.

Did you do the intake mods yourself? (kleen system delete, snorkel removed,
jets, K&N dropin filter)

Was it a jet kit?

Yeah I did it all myself, I haven't messed with the jets except shimming - the bike ran great last summer.

Were all these mods made before setting the bike inside for the winter? AKA, do you have experience riding on this setup last season, or is the entire setup new this season?

I'm trying to see if I should suggest changing the main jets or cleaning the carbs.

same setup I had last season, the only new mod I did was change the throttle tube over to the R6 - I've already adjusted the throttle cable so its perfect and I cleaned the carbs once already... maybe I didn't do a good enough job. I used seafoam already too

Did your problem start happening after this mod?

No, started after the bike had been sitting for a couple months and the tachometer died

I'm willing to say that your carbs may not be cleaned as well as you think. Your tach really has nothing to do with it.

Have a look at the Trouble Shooting Guide under Poor Running or No Power at High Speed:and see what you come up with.
