Red face Throttle doesn't "snap back"

Hello people,

My throttle doesn't go back if I let it go. Excuse my poor terminology. Anybody else have this problem?

I am having trouble using the search engine on my iPod right now(left iPad at work) so if anyone has a thread that already discusses this can u lead me there?

Also, is this dangerous?

Thanks,

Anju

You probably need a new return spring, or it may have come loose. Take it to a garage, they will fix it and it shouldn't be expensive.

Clean/lube the cable. If that doesn't work, replace the cable. If that still doesn't work, replace the return spring.

I'm betting it will be fine once you clean/lube the cable. If you notice any damage to the cable while you're cleaning/lubing it, replace it.

It could also be as simple as the grip touching the bar end. Try peeling back the outside edge of it (at the end of the handlebar) and twisting and releasing.

Calling them as soon as they open

On another note they got my bike to start without cleaning carbs so no charge there. Just new tires, oil change and now throttle.

Bike is at shop but can you clarify what you mean? I was playing with the throttle today and it was sticky last year but now, I liter equally have to bring the throttle back up it won't on its own, last year it did just at a very slow motion speed.

Not sure why your bike is in for oil change.... they overcharge for something you can do on your own very easily. As for what I mean uh... The edge of the grip sometimes goes off of the edge of the throttle tube and hits the bar end which causes it to drag and slows the throttle return. If it's far enough off it can not return all together. If you roll the edge of the grip inward so that you can see the throttle tube and then twist it and let go it may return. If it does you just have to reposition your grip or trim the edge or something.

You could open up the throttle housing to see if the pull and push cables are where they're supposed to be. It's just two screws to open up the housing.
