Even though you don't drive WOT a lot. Take a look at Gearing Commander, plug in/change the gearing to see how your speed can change with different rpm speeds.

See what works. Most have had good results removing it.

Just ordered the pipercross from sportbiketrackgear, the pic they have on the site looks kind of weird. Is that the actual filter or just a stock photo for pipercross?

Once I put in the new filter will i likely have to go back to the 98 jet?

Putting in the DJ96, you basically just put in the equivalent of the stock 98 main jet.

"One of our industry's most insidious misconceptions, ................ is the idea that installing an aftermarket exhaust system necessarily requires the changing of carburetor jetting. It just isn't so. Not every aftermarket exhaust affects carburetion. A number of complex physical things are going on in an exhaust system..........The fact is, much of the performance increase resulting from replacing the exhaust and the subsequent carburetor rejetting is due simply to the rejetting, not the exhaust...........That's right, the run-of-the-mill "implied performance" type exhaust frequently requires no jetting change at all! In many cases, the stock jet will do just fine. "

The porcelain ends of those spark plugs are way too white and clean to show any engine condition; they may have not been working for long in there.

Kudos to Blue and Chone!!!

Nice!! looks like you found the right size main jet!

How's the bike feel during partial throttle roll-ons and roll-offs? If it feels smooth there, you're pretty much done with the jetting changes.

Rolls ons feel like it could use improvement, I'm hoping with the new filter i get to replace the stock one will make a difference. this filter is 4 years old and has 9.5k miles on it so it needs a change

Kawasaki recommends replacement at 2 years. the stock filter is pretty dense with tiny, tiny holes and will compress over time. A new filter should help.
