omg... the bike looks so nice... and it has all the things that almost sold me over to the CBR (abs/FI/digital display) and I like the body (especially the head lights) much better... I will really consider selling my 2010 for the new model if price is good.

The used market is already flooded with new-gens as well as many pre-gens. This bike coming to the U.S.A is going to cause all the previous years values to drop significantly.

Wow.....just wow....this thing looks amazing. Definitely think it looks more like the zx6 and zx10 over the 650. Love the styling, the new gauges and possible FI too. Bravo to Kawi if this makes it to the US.

That's good news for me, I've been missing the 250 from my stable.

Remember, if you have a Costco membership, you don't have to deal with the sales bullcrap, and just use the member pricing, lol.

Yeah, I think my pregen will be lucky to sell for over 1000 after all the people who want the new bike flood Craigslist

Interesting to hear that they're dropping the "R". From the sound of all the improvements, it seems like this model would be even better suited to carry that letter than the current model

But I'm not complaining, potentially lower insurance is definitely a plus

We should stop rejoicing until Kawi officially states they are going to release this in the US market.

Look at the throttlebodies in the gallery of pictures. Are they massively oversized? Look hpw much the intake boots have to taper down to meet up with the intake on the head. Think this thing has a massive top end if those TB's are as big as they look?

Google translating one of the above links. The torque was increased in the low to medium range to give the ninja a more "powerful engine"

Holy crap this bike is awesome. I was getting 600 but...damn...that thing looks sweet. Gonna have to sell my 09 before it comes here, no ones gonna want it with those sweet 2013s out.

Not sure why it needs more low-end when it already does so well there. Sounds like a copy/paste of what they said last time.

Honest question: does Kawasaki watch forums like ninjette to get feedback on what everyone is complaining about/modifying? They seem to have nmbeen pretty realistic in what they changed from what I can see

As I pointed out earlier, there is no vertical seam where the upper meets the lower and there seems to be only one bolt going into the tank. If the tank and birdcage can be swapped, then maybe, but the design also doesn't allow for retaining the side covers.

didn't expect a remodel this early, but I guess they had to with the CBR250r...looks nice but I think I like the side of the current gen better.

A couple of things I spy.

Larger Oil pan
Spin on oil filter
O2 sensor

This more than a cosmetic change to the engine. Previously the FI version was the same motor with a throttle boddy added on. The change to the oil filter says this is more than that. I don't think kawi will produce more than one engine for the 250.

So, I'd say good bet this is coming to the US.

Kawasaki would be doing many folks a great service by bringing this FI bike to the US. I bet they won't even be able to keep them in dealerships first shipment out. The demand for these bikes are already high I can imagine the wait trying to score one as soon as they are released to US dealerships.

Or maybe I could score a used new gen at a significant lower price ...even better.

Thinking I might have a new bike next season. Might wait to see what performance gains were made, be nice to have a little more topend. Wonder how much weight it gains? Now if they would just make their 400 look like that.

Do the lower fairings really extend up to the headlights or are those seams for something else?

Two blacks:
Ebony and Ebony/Metallic Moondust Gray (Special Edition)

Every color has a Special Edition. Passion Red and Pearl Stardust White share a combined SE. I prefer the green non-SE to the SE. They didn't even give the green SE a green seat!

In Brazil Kawi said they don´t know when the new model will arrive here, but they already lowered the price of a new 2012 one by US$ 750,00.
They are already cleaning their stock for the new awesome 2013!

Since they only brought the "newgen" to Brazil in 2009, and they are already preparing for the new one, you can be sure it will be in the US in no time.

There's a reason you didn't get it last time around, carbs are cheaper to make, if they don't see the need they won't spend extra. US emissions laws are lax enough to let carbs stay.

Maybe to take honda down, but that's not a dead cert.

The line "some markets" says they're doing carbs. It's cheaper & if they think the styling gives it a better market position they may go with the cheaper option again

That's exactly what I'm saying. The only "need" there applies here as well (competition). The Indonesian version of the EPA isn't more strict than ours, so that's not what is doing it. Also, there's the fact that the FI model was presented as "L" instead of "M," which makes it the primary model this gen.

From Kawasaki's site:
Quote:
Circuit-developed frame
New diamond-style frame with optimised rigidity offers the high level of chassis stability necessary for high-performance sport riding. Rubber front engine mounts significantly reduce engine vibration, contributing to the high-quality ride feel.
Combined with the stiffer new frame, revised damping settings and softer spring rates front and rear contribute to the Ninja 250's nimble handling, and enable both increased comfort for city riding as well as a firmer feeling when sport riding.
I guess the old frame was "diamond-style" too because it's still the same basic design. All that new stuff around the tail seems to be for the strange lid thing in the trunk and the integrated grab-handles (no mention of these in the product description). The new mounting and all that other talk elsewhere about the engine now being a stressed member of the frame makes it sound completely different, but I just don't see it.

Would the spin on oil filter make oil changes more of a hassle? I've seen that on other bikes (I think I've seen it on a recent ZX6R or R6) that it's more of a pain in the ass and sometimes requires removal of some fairings to get access to it.

Well, looks like its a good thing the lien release is already in the mail for my newgen... I'd be seriously afraid of what this release would do to the previous gen's resale value. I was planning on selling my bike anyway, but this might encourage a little more haste.

It's very evident how threatened Kawasaki feels in regards top the Honda 250. That being said, this looks to be very promising, although the styling is kind of meh in my opinion.

Well...it's pretty cool, but it doesn't make me want to trade my headlight splitted, koso gauged and fully huggered baby.
Only thing it has going for it in my opinion, is the FI...but no matter, there's ecotrons (oh..and maybe the bigger tires also...but 150's been done)
so don't despair, new gen folks...I'm not.
