pulled over after splitting past cop
i scared a cop as i buzzed him around +15 through an intersection and he pulled me over. i was polite and respectful as i explained what i was doing to be safe and explained that i actually do know what i'm doing. he was nice. turns out he rides too, and is also a proponent of getting out in front to give youself space. gave me back my stuff and told me i should fix my turn signals. no ticket or warning.

Whenever I hear stories of people getting a ticket from a "dick" cop, I ask, "Were YOU being a dbag?"
Treating mr officer with a little respect goes a long way

Sometimes it doesn't really matter what you do or say though it is always a good idea to treat people who can **** you over if you give them reason to with respect.

i have actually built a second bike -- complete with turn signals -- specifically to ride as my street bike, but it's still got some issues so i'm riding my race bike as the street bike. so actually i probably will never fix the turn signals on that bike. especially considering it doesn't have the left hand control cluster.
but instead i will simply not ride it on the street, and instead ride a bike that looks startlingly similar except it has a kickstand, turn signals, and a horn

And it was a very dickish thing to "blah blah blah" someone's post that had nothing to do with you. So still an ahole.

good job Alex!
Most LEOs are reasonable people and if you can respectfully discuss the issue they will sometimes see your point and not issue a citation. I had a few occasions where I was stopped for "streamlining " and have avoided a citation every time.

Nice work. Good fortune that he turned out to be a rider as well. Plenty of similar stories that end differently when the LEO isn't quite as bike-friendly.

I think that the look -- and with an after-market pipe -- the noise these little bikes make, a WOT launch from a stop line can feel to an onlooker much faster than it really is. If you heard similar acceleration noises from 600 you'd expect the bike to be twice the speed limit within seconds.
