GUY Martin has responded to press stories claiming he is close to joining the Top Gear team.

Newspapers reported on Sunday that Martin is ‘in advanced talks’ with BBC bosses to become the show's next presenter; but in true Martin-style his ambiguous response leaves us no clearer of his intentions.

Taking to his official Facebook page Martin said: 'It’s funny what you can find out in the papers sometimes…'

Martin also linked to an article from the Independent, which backs him to line-up alongside model Jodie Kidd and actor Philip Glenister.

Although Martin’s cryptic comment sheds little light on his future at the BBC, nonetheless, it is certain to fire speculation. His post has already received nearly 16,000 likes.

Bookies BetFair currently has Martin down as 1/4 to take over from Jeremy Clarkson.
