Indian Motorcycle Announces Scout Bobber Build-Off

Indian teams up with Hot Bike for “The Wrench: Scout Bobber Build Off”.

Indian Motorcycle announced that it’s seeking three passionate amateur builders to take part in the upcoming “Wrench: Scout Bobber Build Off”. The company will select three applicants between March 15-30, 2018, who will each be given a stock 2018 Indian Scout Bobber and a $10K budget to customize it. The three completed machines will then be unveiled at Sturgis in July, where a winner will ultimately be crowned who will take home the $10K grand prize and have their Scout Bobber build featured in Hot Bike Magazine.

“We wanted to create a program that would celebrate the unsung heroes who spend countless hours wrenching on their bikes," said Indian's Senior Director of Marketing and Product Planning Reid Wilson. "The men and women who don’t do it for recognition or notoriety, but solely for self-expression and the pure art of customizing a motorcycle.*Last year we saw what professionals could do with the Scout Bobber platform when Kraus Motor, Keino Cycles, and RSD unveiled incredible designs at the Brooklyn Invitational. This year, we’re turning the spotlight away from the pros, and shining it on everyday wrenchers.”

The applicants—who cannot be professional bike builders—will have two weeks to submit 500 word write-ups explaining their proposed build plans and why they’re deserving and competent enough to be one of the lucky three. Submissions must include a sketch or digital rendering of the custom Scout Bobber design, and Indian highly encourages descriptions and imagery of previous builds, video submissions, and references who can “reinforce their talent and justify their skills”.
