Just having an issue right now and for some reason I was drawn to this thread. Read every word of it. Just want to rule something so simple out that gave this OP such a headache. You just never know. You know how it goes, process of elimination. I have honestly leaned more over the last month reading this forum than I ever could learn in a service manual as crazy as that sounds. Some pretty bike savvy people here. A great resource.

Ask and you shall receive.

The bike ran great for thousands of miles. I drove it almost 6,000 miles after fixing the carbs with literally no issues, changed the oil, put some new tires on it and replaced the stupid exhaust that came on it with a stock one I found off craigslist. I moved to the DC area a few years ago and continued to ride it around here but it was so underpowered that it was almost dangerous in this area. I am also working on this at work and have been getting a lot more experience riding so I figured it was time to move up.

I ended up getting a 2009 Suzuki SFV650 Gladius a few months ago and sold the Ninja to a friend. It was a great bike and I enjoyed learning on it but the added power and handling are incredible on the Gladius. Also really loving the fuel injection!

Thanks again for all the help getting it running all those years ago!
Alex.
