Clutch Issues
Hey guys i'm new here! I just got a 2005 Ninja 250. It starts and runs fine however the clutch will not disengage. It was working, but was really loose so I wont to adjust it and I acidentally pulled the bolt that goes down into the clutch out. (the thing the the cable actually actuates) So i did some research and decided to pull the clutch cover (shoulda had a new gasket ready) and the push rod seems like its not working correctly. I can remove it back and forth about 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch and there is no movement on the pressure plate. Even before I went to take the clutch cover off, I reinserted the clutch rod (not the push rod, never took it off) and tried to use it manually and the clutch still does not engage.
What am I doing wrong guys? Cable isnt broken, frayed, or anything like that. |

put the cover back on with a new gasket, slide the actuator arm back in pointing away from the bike. turn it counter-clockwise and it will thread up with the clutch plate puller bearing holder. you wont be strong enough to actuate it by hand so just put the cable back on, adjust the cable to get rid of the slack and it should be fine

Stupid question time, was the bike running? And how long did it sit? And don't forget to lube the clutch cable, and while your at it lubricated the throttle and choke cables too.

Yep im a total dweeb. It pulls now. I need to get a gasket. (or atleast high temp sealer) and put her back together. Thanks you guys.

So put everything back together and the clutch cable seems to engaged but theres no sign of it actually working. I left it on the center stand in first while the engine was off after a little warm up in neutral. Like I said Im a total newb to anything above a 150cc (scooter) so any ideas? (link below)

FIXED! I let it warm up a bit more put it on a slight hill then let her roll down the pulled the clutch popped it in 1st and that seemed to do the trick!
