Where to find shims for valve adjustments

Well I called the local Kawasaki Stealerships and none of them stock the shims. $10+tax = $11/shim and they would have to order it. Called the Suzuki dealerships and got the same deal. Holy crap it's rediculous how much they charge for a little piece of steel. I didn't bother with Yamaha as the Kawasaki dealership specializes in Yamaha too. I call Honda and both dealerships stock the shims with one charging $5.95/shim.

The size of shims you need are 7.48" in diameter. Going off the Hot Cams cross reference these bikes use this size of shims.

Honda:
CRF 250R/X, NX 250, CB1 400, CBR 600 F2/F3/F4, CBR 600RR, RC-30, RC-45, 750 Magna 94-00, VFR 750, VFR 800, CBR 900/929/954, CB 919, CBR 1000RR, CBR 1100XX, ST 1100, GL 1800

Yamaha:
YZ 250F, WR 250F, FZR 400, FZR 600, YZF 600, YZF-R6, YZF 750, FZ1, FZR 1000, GTS 1000, YZF 1000, YZF-R1

Suzuki:
RM-Z 250, GSXR 600, GSXR 750 93-02, SV 650, DL 650, RF 900, GSXR 1000, GSXR 1100 93-98

Kawasaki:
KX 250F, ZX 600, ZX 6-R, EX 250

Yeah, the smallest shop is like all the way across the city. I'm not even sure if they'll sell their shims if they have any.

Here you can get bulks of 30 in 5 or 6 sizes. Works nice if all the ones you need are in one range.

Then you could sell off the extras and make most of it back...possibly.

A lot of shops exchange shims, rather than sell them. You bring your old ones in and they swap them for cheap.
I've heard of some forums getting a set for all their members (or members who contribute to investment). If someone wants to organize that, it might be worth looking into.

I finished it last week after picking up some shims from a local forum member. Pretty easy to do despite the workspace I had.
