Do I need a new clutch cover?

My dad said he could get off my stubborn gasket and I caught him using a wire brush on a drill and stopped him before he could **** it up more. Do I need a new clutch cover now?

No, just lay a thin bead of blue silicone around the cover before laying down the gasket.

Reinstall
WIN!

Agreed, except use black, it matches better

Personally I've never used a clutch or stator gasket, just silicone

Just use some permatex gasket maker and you'll be fine, just let it set for a short bit before installing.

yall gotta keep in mind that clutch cover holds the clutch puller pin thingy which pulls a lot on the clutch, so its better to use a paper gasket

Post #2 brah... color of your choice, but both the silicone + paper gasket = problem solved. I am sure you know what we are talkin' bout.

It seems that you have taken a path of destruction this week: the sheared clutch bolt, now the cover .......

Make your dad read this:
http://www.dansmc.com/gaskets.htm

Also, you can make a paper gasket yourself using this template:

A wire brush on a drill is not bad, IF you don't press too hard and go too fast with too coarse a brush.

They actually make textured fabric abrasive wheels for this type of thing.. I don't see where your dad ruined the cover, maybe got a bit aggressive with it..he would have been fine if he only put light to moderate pressure on it, just enough to remove the gasket material and no more.

Seal it up with black RTV and be done.
