Project T00Fiddy (Streetfighter/Naked build)

I basically want to turn my stock pre-gen into a naked/streetfighter. But no clue on how until I started doing some research on how to do it but I'll start posting pics on my progress here. Just finished cleaning the carbs and now she's running https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tx6bfMntCnY

Yes, I bought it for the sole purpose of being legit on the street while being a bit more on the modern side of things. here's the link to the headlight/bucket http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I still need to find a rubber gasket so that the headlight wont move around so much in the bucket as well as waterproofing. The head light itself is already H4 so no worries about conversion of wires there.

Why Did I Do That...

I messed up a couple days ago while trying to mount the TTV (Trail Tech Vapor) I tried to drill through the ignition housing so I can just bolt down the TTV with the included mounts. Little did I know that as soon as I did that no power went through the bike at all I checked fuses and wiring to see if there were any kinks but to no avail. Then I removed the TTV mount only to find that I punctured straight into the load resistor/ignition switch that regulates all the power to the bike... I am now in waiting to get my replacement ignition housing from some kind individual from Ebay only ($40) all while trying to remove the security bolts from the original housing which was a PITA = more careful drilling and extracting bolts. now she's just sitting until the part arrives. All in all it was a lesson well learned for a bike newbie who's just getting into this world of motorcycles. NEVER DOING THAT AGAIN

I was looking at a tail that looks similar to that bike from the movie Tron Legacy I think it is a Ducati but I searched all over and can't find those nice looking brake lights anywhere, if I can't find the tail or the lights for it, I may have to just fabricate the tail at a shop somewhere. But I would like to get anything similar if possible.

I was very careful in drilling mine at the exact same spot. Worked perfectly. I ended up using a 10mm bolt with some washers. You gotta be real light with the drill as that plate is not that thick.

Yeah. I thought I was going really light...(guess not) but I I'll try to find a different approach to mounting, for now I'll just use the stock mounting bracket but the offset looking one. For now until I find something more creative. I will post more when I get my ignition housing together which should be over the weekend.

I mounted a trail tech to my bike using the mounts provided with the kit. It is inexpensive and durable. It may not be the cafe look or best mounting ever but it was cheap. Here is my build thread and I have pictures of the mount. I have recently changed it a little which I can take pictures of If you would like to see. This just gives you an idea of what you can do.

Wow that looks clean! Good job. Yeah I was originally thing to mount the gauge like that. I like how you used sheet metal for mounting the wiring harnesses, I'll probably be doing something similar since the rectifier/fuse box/battery are only hanging around with some zip ties. Thanks for the help Kruse08

So i lost all power and my main fuse kept popping and i trace it back to the ignition system. ended up taking apart the whole lock cylinder but it ended up being an open wire right where the harness is connected to the triple tree with the bracket and a 10mm screw.

In the process i ended up taking apart everything in the lock cylinder. the part where you drilled through (same area i drilled mine) does not even touch any electricals pertaining to the bike. it is JUST the lock cylinder. the electricals are located in the botton 1/4" - 1/2" of the assembly and are untouched by where that hole is located. So maybe you could recheck your wiring or the switch if the new ignition doesnt work. I was about to order one too but found the problem after a few hours of headaches. just a heads up

Wow, sorry to hear that happened. But I'll re-check the cylinder again just to be sure, thanks for the info ieathonda! I'm gonna look to see if there are any grounds/shorts in my harness later today, but I already ordered the ignition switch :/ well I probably need a crash course on my wiring harness on where it connects and probably a multimeter to make absolute sure what's going on.

Got Faith Running

So I finally finished putting her together, Now I'm looking to fix her jetting since I installed the EMGO pods. I get some bogging here when I apply some throttle. But I'm taking the educated guess and thinking that I will need to shime the needles and find some main jets to compensate for the new airflow/pressure. If anyone here knows or can help guide me in the right direction for some jett tuning here in California (sea level here in Corona is 700ft.) it would be much appreciated. I have done some homework but I would still like another persons thoughts

Jetting Complete!

I did more carburetor pulls than I would of thought in my life, But I guess it was for the better cause now I know how to take my carbs apart in less than 5-10mins all in all it runs perfect. I burned through 6 spark plugs and used about 2 full tanks of gas during the whole rejet. The jets I used were from https://jetsrus.com/ This process (for me) took about a whole month to find the right air/fuel mixture without a dyno and to get it as close to that 14.7:1 ratio as possible. I also switched to the K&N #R-0990 which fits like a glove unlike the EMGO pods that don't completely sit right and covers some of the carburetors breather ports . The performance difference compared to the EMGO pods that I had planned to use before was night and day. I tested all the jets 1 by 1 using both the EMGO pods and K&N filter and the results were...well not to be anticlimactic but the stock jets were perfect compared with the other larger jets in fuel consumption. The only real modification I did was install 1 #4 washer under the carburetor diaphragms which seems just silly and feels like I didn't do much after all that work. I was prepared to go under the knife with the jetting but found myself just understanding how my bike reacts now with Lean/Rich mixtures. So I'll take that as another lesson well learned.

Altitude - 678 feet above sea level

Climate - April/May weather around 80-90 degree's

Main Jets - 105,108,110,112 OEMs

Pilot Jets - 35,38,40,42 OEMs

Needle Shims - 6 #4mm washers - Local Hardware Store

My Settings

Main Jets - 105 OEMs (stock)

Pilot Jets - 38 OEMs (stock)

Needle Shims - 1 #4mm washer
