03/04/10 Test rode a BMW s1000rr

At Long Beach BMW!
Had it set on rain mode!
Very smooth, wind protection phenominal, brakes smooth, seating position
very balanced with very little pressure on the bars. Shifting very clunky
though with the clutch, but smooth without. Like a jet if you apply the
throttle!
Very nice! But you never get out of 2nd gear on the street so not as
fun as rowing the ninjette thru all the gears all the time.
Would make a great touring bike too cause of the great wind protection
and comfy riding position!

You will have no problem doing a wheelie for miles. Just have to turn the traction and abs off!
The salesman ran me thru all the controls, and it took 5 mins there
was so much stuff!

Sounds like you had fun. BMW makes some great cars and bikes. Very advanced engineering.

I was too!
But was a dud on rain mode! Felt like a ninjette with rear sets and clip ons!
Brakes are not grabby, but smooth like the ninjette.
Most amazing is the wind protection! That windscreen with holes on
the side is engineered in a wind tunnel. Still can't get over that!
But on the street it's just as docile and smooth
on take off like the ninjette. Only clunky gear changes if you use the
clutch. Without using the clutch very smooth. Twist the throttle and
thing just takes off like a jet! It's all in the wrist, and easy to control!
I already forgot about it since testing it. No big deal except the mega power when you want it!

Purely on an aside:
I've noticed that Americans always date things as in the title - 03/04/10
Why is this? In most countries, folks write dates from smallest unit to largest, or vice-versa, such as 2010/12/31 or 31/12/2010.

But if you want to keep track of albums on chronological order, then the year first makes sense, then month and day!

That sounds like whole lot of fun. I wish I had place around here to test ride bikes.

The Ninjette is not a disposable bike. You are not ever supposed to get rid of it. It is like a [friendly] herpes virus.... once you got it, you get keep it forever. Originally posted by-Headshrink
