Practice times are up. Raining for FP1, and wet for most of FP2. Apparently they lost about 10 minutes at the end of FP2 due to spectators climbing the safety fence.

First lap was scarey again (just like qualifying). Rumor has it that McLaren is using the Yamaha R1 engine (at least it sounds like it). There doesn't seem to be a lot of seating or parking at Spa. It is a great track though.

Should be 4, but who's counting. Hopefully no one wraps it up this weekend, and it goes down to the wire. I'm hoping for Webber to pull it off, but he needs to stop throwing it away. Either that or both he and Alonso to screw up and Hamilton swipe it from both of them, but even though I am a Hamilton fan, I'd really like to see Mark win this year.
It's awesome that there are still 5 drivers mathematically able to win the championship with only 2 races left. Button is pretty much out of it, as he needs to outscore Alonso by 17 points, Webber by 6, and not lose more than 4 points to Hamilton or 8 points to Vettel to stay in it (though it could happen  ) If Alonso finishs higher than Vettel, Vettel is out. If he scores 4 more points than Hamilton, than Hamilton is out.I really don't want Alonso to win, so those numbers keep me optimistic

Those 7 points are looking even more important now.
Red Bull still says no team orders, that they would rather their driver finish second then have team orders. I admire that, but think that if it comes down to it, that something should happen, it probably just won't be spoken on the radio. Imagine this scenario. 5 laps to go in Abu Dhabi the top 3 are running just as they finished in Brazil, Seb, Webber, and Alonso in that order. Alonso would still win the DC by 4 points, and Seb would have no chance. But if Webber was allowed to pass Seb he wins the championship. Does Seb make the selfless decision to slow a little bit? If the driver makes the choice on his own, it isn't team orders. The team could easily tell him to slow a little bit too. "Seb, you are overheating. Back off a little and set mixture to 4." No where does that say allow Mark to pass. Anyways, its going to be exciting, but if Alonso wins by less than 7 it is undeserved, and should have an asterik in the history books. |
