So I joined a local riding "club" the other day and the first get together was the annual Knee Draggers Ball at Alcoa Good Times. I was introduced to one of the female members.

She: Hello I'm _____ (left out to protect the stupid)
Me: Hi, nice to meet you. I'm Corey.
She: What do you ride?
Me: An 09 Ninja 250
She: Oh, so we need to get you to upgrade then.

Soo... basically what I heard was "welcome to the club, your bike sucks and so do you."

So I'm speaking with one of my co-workers after pulling into the parking lot on my jette.

He says: "I think I saw you ride in on something, it was really small"

I say: "Oh that was my ninja."

He says: "Ha! Why would you ride something that has a weed whacker engine in it!? It's kind of pathetic"

I say: "Oh yeah!? what do you ride?"

He says: "..." - absolutely nothing...he doesn't have a friggan bike!

Lol, I can't wait to meet these kinda people this summer. Chances are they won't ride anything and drive a lame cage. IMO, a 125cc is still pretty cool compared to their prius.

A 125cc ninja would be awesome. We shall call it, the ninjina

my friends at work always give me crap because i bought a 250. The other day a guy i was parked next to said my bike sounded like a weed-eater that ate it's wheaties. It never bothers me because people like giving me crap in general but in a totally unrelated incident, the guy i parked to during lunch said it sounded like a weed-eater too. what does bother me is that people who obviously dont know much about bikes will talk smack about a 250 just because it's number is smaller then the rest.
But its OK because I hate where i work anyway and the minute i clock out i put a huge smile on my face because i know that in a few minutes i will be riding my bike as far away from that place as possible and enjoying Every minute of it. such a great way to relax after a hard days work

Cool

Been lurking here for a number of days now, registered to add to this thread...

No bike yet, but pretty sure I want a ninjette when I get one.

Coworker showed me some Harley online, said I should start with that... I said I had no interest in it. When I told him I wanted a Ninja 250, he was shocked.

"what?! A ninja you can't start with that,it's a crotch rocket!"

Even after I told him repeatedly it would be a 250, he insisted "doesn't matter, it is still a ninja, a sport bike!!!"

Gotta love the ignorant wannabe's out there that don't actually understand bikes. Doesn't matter if they ride, if they don't have a clue, they are still wannabe's.

He's not ignorant at all, you are. I heard that if you accelerate too quickly on a sports bike your arms will snap off at your shoulders and you'll fly off the back of the bike. Also, if you ride a sports bike you have more than a eleventy-twelve percent chance of becoming blinded by your brightly coloured sports fairings within the first year of owning your bike. Check your facts before encouraging people to ride sports bikes instead of cruisers.

Yah know, I can take a joke. However, this bs is getting extremely old real quick.

Seeing as how I was just with my sister this morning as she put her 15yr old dog to sleep, I'm gonna not respond with what I'm thinking right now. But rather, I'm gonna get off of here for the weekend and just simply wish you some maturity and wisdom jiggles.

I was in the college parking lot and I heard two loud guys talking about something so regretfully I look ever at them and catch their attention. They proceed to ask me a few questions about my bike, then tell me to wheelie out. I told them no

-----

I was also at lunch with a few friends and their friends. One kid proceeds to tell me that my bike is cool, but it's "not really a motorcycle". To top this off, the first time I ever met him he said "I gotta get a helmet like you, even if I don't ride, cause you get alot of attention. I'm sure you have a motorcycle, right?" As if I carried around my gear just to be cool.

Is 21k miles on an 08 a shocking mileage? I had 2 people dumbstruck by that mileage on an 08 250 today.

I was at the local dealership today, looking at a ER6f (ninja 650 in the USA) when the dealer took a look over my bike he commented that it looked like it was ridden more than polished (that being a good thing), then his jaw hit the floor when he spotted the 21k miles on the odometer...

On a bit of a rip around afterwards I pulled in to see if another guy was in trouble, a 2012 gixxer 6 was pulled in a few hundred meters after an R1, both were on the side of the road in less than ideal locations & on their phones. The guy on the Gixxer was waiting for his mate on the R1, which hadn't broke down (I was about to give them a hand with whatever needed doing to get back on the road...) we ended up talking about the bikes & how I had a very narrow tyre for a 600... he nearly fell over when I told him it was a 250 (I had it fully banked over in the turn just as I approached him, & again as I went around the roundabout to come back to him), when he sat on the bike & looked down at the dash he just said "F*ck, is that over 20 thousand on it?"

I just finished day two of the msf course and I was talking to a guy in the class about a ninja 250 his friend wanted to sell. He was showing me pictures of it and an older guy who has been riding since the 1970s asked to look. After looking at the pictures he shook his head and said, "Good luck. You're getting one of those speed bikes." I thought it was funny, guess the new gen 250s do look pretty fast.

I have 43K on my '06, which I bought and started riding in spring of '09 with only 2K miles on it. It's unusual in that many riders are fair weather recreational riders that rarely accumulate more than a few thousand a year. I ride full time regardless of weather and average over 1,100 miles a month.

The guy at cycle gear called the SE tribal decal on my fairings flowers, said I need to ditch my fender since its ugly, and asked what kind of bike it was. If only he knew how I rode.
