any one of these filters will work. shop around and see what is available at a decent price in your area. I personally use either a WIX filter or a NAPA Gold filter (which is made by WIX), which I order through the auto parts store up the street. They don't usually have it in stock, so plan ahead.
Some filters don't come with replacement O-rings... check before you purchase. Amsoil: SMF 101 (No longer available. Replaced by WIX 24941.) CarQuest: CFI-89941 Emgo: 10-37500 (includes O-rings) 10-20300 (doesn't have O-rings) Fram: CH6012 Hastings: LF571 Honda: 15410-426-010 or 15410-300-024 Kawasaki: 16099-003 K&N: KN-401 NAPA: PS4941 (formerly 4941) Perf-Form: OF-0047 (formerly J-501) Purolator: ML16812 STP: SMO-12 (Once readily available, now appears to have been discontinued.) Triumph: 1210031 Vesrah: SF-4004 WIX: 24941 Yamaha: 36Y-13441-00 |

the pregens and newgens use the same oil filters.
I use Shell Rotella 5W-40 synthetic oil from Walmart for about $20-25/gallon. have you read the oil change DIY here on ninjette? http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=10780 |

Oil will probably be cheapest at any auto part store. Bike shops tend to be more expensive. Either should have a couple filter options. The OEM kawi filter cost $10 at mine and does not come with the replacement o-rings. They also had the Hiflo for $5, but that one is not recommended.

The fram comes with new o-rings. Free shipping if your order is over $25 so not a bad deal if you're buying a handful.

This might sound funny, but let me know how that works out. I ordered my spark plugs there and was told they'd be there the next day. Went the next afternoon and they had me at the counter for almost 10 minutes while they looked for them. Computer said they had them but they were nowhere to be found. I ordered them from amazon on my phone while waiting and then left.
