Is this a good deal for 08' cbr600RR?
http://sacramento.craigslist.org/mcy/4573095313.html
I test rode it today and it seems mechanically fine. Took it out on the highway too and nothing seems wrong with it except the cosmetic damage from the drop, looks like the frame slider took most of the impact. I'm going to take it to a mechanic and if everything checks out fine we agreed to 4500. I'm thinking this is a good deal... oh one thing I noticed was when I downshifted to 1st I felt two distinct clicks or engagements of gear, is this normal on this bike? I didn't notice it on any of the bikes I demo'd at yamaha last week. I plan to hit the track with it eventually so I wouldn't feel so bad if it gets dropped again. And I would keep my ninja to learn on for awhile. Thanks in advance |

Wouldn't you be better off asking this question in a CBR forum? I think 600rr.net is one.

I'd take that in a hearbeat. The 08's when I was looking at them 2 years ago weren't less than 6k, even for ones dropped with cosmetic damage.

I'd jump on it, looks to be in fairly good shape (I don't see any severe damage in the pics) and 4.5g is lower than the typical supersport price of 5g around my area. That's a price I'd expect to see in the winter really

Looks like chinese plastics to me, that's not an oem paint scheme as far as I can tell.

Just be careful if you go look at this bike. All the pics were taken at the same time and not at his/her house. Just be cautious and don't carry large amount of cash until you are sure. Certified bank checks cost little and can be cancelled quickly. The bike looks good but it is hard to tell from pictures. Make sure second gear is good, many people ruin 2nd from shifting during wheelies and you have to split the engine cases to repair. Good luck. Price sounds good

Its a good price.. BUT- I agree with the observation on the fairings.. those do not look like OEM.. If they are, then It's like a mix of 2 OE color schemes! It must have been laid down bad.. suggest you do a thorough check, inc. title and insurance claims

My main street ride is an '08 600RR. I just did the 22k service on mine, so I ride it a bit more. But yes, if it's in decent mechanical shape, that's a damn good price. If you're inclined, get the OEM plastics and get it looking pristine. That orange/gold just looks fantastic in the sun.

08 is supposedly the best year for the 600 CBR.
As for the double clank noise, I wouldn't worry about it at all, Amy (my 250) does the same thing.

So after the mechanical inspection, the biggest items that needed attention are slight coolant leak, fork seals slightly leaking, chain needs cleaning and adjustment. And minor items such as tires and brake pads at about 45%. All in all I thought this was a great deal for a decent bike. So I went ahead and pulled the trigger!
Was not fan of the color from the pics but in person the gold flakes on orange really looks nice. I'll see if I can get my hands on some oem fairings. I plan to get an exhaust later. Thanks all for the input, I really appreciate it. You guys were more welcoming and responsive than the folks over at 600rr |

Forget the OEM fairings and go straight for the track kit... Congratulations on the bike!

Congrats on the new bike, don't worry about the plastics it's still awesome! I'd love a newer 600RR myself
