Friend of mine picked one up from Menards back in Feb for his CBR -- it was on sale for $20 so retail is probably $25-$30

I bought the ATV cover at Princess Auto for $15 (6 of them actually!) They fit all different types of bikes. They are a little "short" for my hubby's dirty bike, but it covers the important stuff!

Which motorcycle cover do you have for your ninja? (Picture Thread)

im sure there are alot of people like me debating which cover to get for the 2008-2010 ninja..with pictures we can see how the different covers fit and cover the bike...so if you have a new gen. ninja with a cover on it... take a picture and post and let us know what cover it is and especially what size it is...hope to get a lot of posts...thankss

The $20 one at Wal-mart is just a dust cover. The $35 one is the real cover with hooks that go under the bike and padding for exhaust heat and such. I have the $35 one. It has had very limited use and is fading fast. The dust cover one is only meant to be used indoors and after the bike has cooled. I imagine that the $6 Big Lots one is probably the same. Confirmation?

Nope, no cover for mine, all I do is hose it off every day or two while I'm cleaning my back porch and it stays pretty clean. I used to cover it when I first got it, and it was just too much of a pain to cover and uncover every time I wanted to ride, so I said forget it. Hasn't had a cover on it in over 18 months.

Do not have a picture on MY bike, but the cover that I have is the Deluxe Protective Cover from this website: Motorcycle Covers

I will try to get a picture of my own cover and get it posted.

My girl and I bought these Bilt motorcycle covers for our 250s. She has a Pre-Gen and I have the New Gen. They were on sale for $29.99. These are size mediums and fit the bikes rather well with just a little bit of the rear tire showing. Her 250 is lowered so it covers the rear more. Where the mirror are located, there are little velco vents.

So far it seems waterproof and now I'm just testing how long they last in Houston's heat and humidity.

I've had this cover for a while now. Not completely water proof. It needs to be treated. It's more of a sun/dust cover. Lightweight and packable. It's a size Med.

The Bilt ones I have looks like they're made by the same company as yours. The box doesn't mention them being waterproof but they seem like it.

Myn is garage kept but I use a cheap 20 buck cover size large from walmart. It kinda big but it keeps the dust off he wax but not sure how it would hold up to rain or high wind

If you live in a humid climate, just make sure you get a vented cover. Otherwise, condensation will build up underneath and it will promote rust if your bike sits for a bit. Also make sure the bike is fully cooled down before putting the cover on it.

I think Cycle Gear had exclusive rights to Trackside Products. Same product, they just changed names. It's not waterproof, but will repel some moisture. If treated with a tent water proofer or scotch guard it'll work great.

These look really nice. Where did you get them?

Also, I currently have a CoverAce cover and I don't mind it. Easy to take onff and put on.

Just curious, but is there an issue with these covers melting when they touch hot exhaust parts? I want something small and lightweight so I can cover the bike when I'm not at home.

This is why you make sure the bike is cool before you cover it.

But that isn't really feasible when you take it to work or a store or a restaurant. I want something I can take with me and quickly throw on it to protect it from the sun. And not have to worry about it melting or catching fire.

this is true. I never actually thought about putting the cover on the bike right after you get done riding when it is still hot. It would suck to walk into a restaurant for dinner, and poof your bike catches on fire

I bought the cheapest one I could find at Walmart. Come to think of it...I'm not sure I even know where it is, now.

Any benefit I imagined to gain in buying a cover was quickly outweighed by the frustration I experienced every time I tried to remove it. Seems ridiculous and neurotic to admit to this, but there was something overwhelmingly irritating about having the cover snag over and over again on every little protrusion.

I need medication just thinking about it.

This! I bought the deluxe cover from Wal-Mart so that I wouldn't have to wait for it to cool down (dust cover can't touch the exhaust) but it was such a pain to walk to and from the parking lot multiple times before leaving and after returning that I would not feel like doing it and the bike would get so dirty that it wasn't worth doing any other time (if anything, it would pick up the dirt and scratch).

I was thinking something like this:

See how its designed not to cover the entire animal but just the important stuff.

Something like that would be good for bikes if it was lightweight and possibly made of insulating reflective mylar so that its simple and quick to throw it on and off the bike. It wouldn't have to cover the entire bike (as most motorcycle covers do) but just the important stuff like the seat and the tank. It also needs to be short enough that it doesn't hit the hot parts.

I'm surprised that I haven't seen anything like that for bikes. Full covers are a pain to get on and off.
