I like the matte black exhaust can. It really goes well with the bike. I am not a big fan of chrome myself overall on a bike.

Here's hoping they updated the gauges to be digital and on par to the 650r at least.

Next year it'll probably be 4499 for the base....
2007 - 2999
2008 - 3499
2009 - 3999
2010 - 4299

The 650r is up to 7100 now too...
2006 - 6299
2007 - 6399
2008 - 6499
2009 - 6799
2010 - 7099

These price increases are getting a little too much. It's really getting to the point that it's stupid to buy a new bike. Why buy a 2010 250r for 5000 when you can buy a used 08-09 for 3000-3500, that could come with exhaust and other expensive mods if you search.

That new z1000 looks like an interesting bike. Not something I'm interested in, but it's definitely eye catching to me.

Look at it this way....

... your resale value just went up!

I paid $300 or so over KBB value for my used, mint 08 with less than 1200 miles... it cost me $3000.

That was a TRUE bargain!

Just ticked over 5000 on the commute home this evening. I've owned the bike just over two months.

Using creative accounting, I figure I've MADE MONEY! Woot!

So it looks like those two "SE" bikes ARE available in the states afterall!
According to the Kawi Site, the 2010 colors are
Quote:
Metallic Island Blue, Passion Red, Lime Green/Pearl Stardust White, Ebony/Candy Persimmon Red

They have certainly crossed the "no-buy" point for me.... glad I bought when I did. It will be interesting to watch what happens to sales now. I don't see the matte lowers on the new US 250r, so that was either an illusion on the AU site, or a change for our market.

And it looks like the US 650r will NOT have ABS after all.

It's a shame they didn't make a white one. I do really like the red on the red/black one though; it's very deep and vivid looking.

Using creative law, the govt will want to tax you on that. wow you are putting on the miles. At 11 months I told a salesguy I have 8000 miles, he was blown away like I committed a crime. I wanted to say WTF I bought the bike for riding, not looking at. Its not a Desmosedici for good ness sake.

I'm disappointed with the 2 SE colors. They're hideous.
I'd rather have the matte/gloss black color from AU.
The matte lowers adds a nice touch, and it comes with a special silver sprocket *wink wink*.

i see they brought back the 'passion red' from 08. i think i like the 09 'sunbeam red' better
i was actually arguing with my dealer that the 08 and 09 reds were different and he just kept telling me it was the light... this was after i payed for the bike, so i should have just told him he was an idiot and left

I'm with you, the bike is pretty clearly gloss black, there is no matte finish on it. I think the lower fairing that a lot of people think is matte black is just a reflection from whatever floor mat they used for the photoshoot. The line doesn't follow any lines on the bike, and the "matte" looking finish is unfinished around the cut-out in the lower fairing and also at the very top of the fairing where is goes up toward the headlight.
Also they really screwed up the cut-out in the lower fairing with their photoshop to try to lighten it and show the header...too blurry and pixilated.

A lot of people insist it's a matte finish, so I guess we just have to wait till someone in Australia sees on in person, or better yet buys one

Funny story... I ordered an owner's manual for an '08 a little before these pictures started coming out. I just realized all the pictures in it have the matte exhaust

Are you implying that you got an updated manual? In my '08 manual most of the renders have green (well, grayscale) grips, side covers, etc. I'll hafta look at the exhaust in it again.

I suspected the "matte" was a reflection, but after examining all the pics on the AU site, and hearing others opinions, I ignored my instinct, drank the cool-aide and perpetuated the matte myth.

There should be no change in 2008+ manuals until there is a mechanical change.... and even then it should just be a supplemental manual added to the 2008+ manual, that is until the next MAJOR change in another oh..... 15-20years. At least that is how I understand MC manuals to work.

My point was that I had the pics of the 2010 Ninja 250r without knowing it, before (I think) the pics were made public

Yes I got that, but I believe the actual image on the manual is really a 2008, but looks matte because of the poor image/printing quality that was used.

If you look at a previous post of mine where I put up a stock 2008 picture from when they were new, both the blue and the black appear to have matte lowers, but they're not- it was just a reflection

Yep! The exhaust is only in a few pictures though. Just to clarify, this is the owner's manual and not the service manual.

You probably should've called it "flat black" because everyone else is still hung up thinking you were talking about matte fairings despite the key word: "exhaust."

Oh well.

I don't see why they wouldn't update the inacurate renders with final pics. Grip and side panel colors, underside of the seat, etc.

If you're talking about what Kkim just posted, those are both from 2010.

Top = 2010 Ninja 250r

nothing good lasts forever
the kawi 250's just had its peak of awesomeness with the past few years
theyre still nice looking bikes and ill be very excited when i start seein the 2010 models around
the 250's are in such high demand because its probably the 'best bang for the buck' in addition to being a great beginner bike, but with the raising prices, i feel many people are gona just buy bigger bikes used for similar prices

I don't know if the myth has been busted yet or not...........but might as well bust it to be safe. The fairings are all gloss black. The only matt is the exhaust, the side panels near the seat and the frame.
