[visordown.com] - Hybrid SilentHawk concept military bike wins award

A TECHNOLOGY firm has won an award for this hybrid-electric two-wheel-drive concept military bike.

According to Logos Technologies, the SilentHawk will allow small military teams to move long distances quickly and stealthily across harsh enemy terrain.

The firm has been given an award by the US Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to support development of the concept.

The SilentHawk is based on Californian manufacturer Alta Motors’ existing RedShift MX electric motorcross bike but uses a hybrid-electric power plant built by Logos.

Logos' Wade Pulliam said: ‘Quiet, all-wheel-drive capability at extended range in a lightweight, rugged, single-track vehicle would support the successful operations in extreme terrain conditions and contested environments.

‘An innovative design approach, including a unique field-swappable power system concept, will allow unprecedented customisability of the bike.'
