It is interesting to compare/contrast. In rough terms, WSS bikes are street frames with race engines; Moto2 bikes are race frames with street engines. Rider quality is much higher in the Moto2 space, which also leads to the smaller lap time spread compared to WSS.

I think moto3 is more exciting than moto2 and find myself watching more of the 250cc races. It's kinda lame that everyone in moto2 now is running the same engine... and it's a honda.

That's changing soon. I believe Honda is not interested in supplying engines after next season.

Moto2 has always been a spec-class with a sealed Honda 600cc engine with an open chassis choice. It does look like there is one chassis that is the one to have, which is unfortunate.

I too I'm a fan. WSBK is pretty fun to watch too! Marquez is incredible, but kind of makes the racing a little null and void. Not in a bad way but certainly not as exiting as it used to be. But I'm a fan kid has heart.

It'll be interesting to see how the Suzuki performs this season and how the new riders in MotoGP fare. If Lorenzo and Rossi start the season on the same form as they ended it should be exciting from the go. If Yamaha figure out the seamless up/down gearbox then things should even up performance-wise although I heard somewhere that the Honda engine makes significantly more power. Hope Dorna leave Ducati alone a little longer.

It was pretty obvious towards the end of the season the Honda had next to nothing power wise on the Yamaha. The only bike that really still seemed to have a power advantage was the Duc. The new GP15 debuts in Sepang 2 and we will see what Ducati has been busy with. Suzuki, Aprilia, and Ducati will all have the "concessions" at the beginning of the season so: engine development, cheater tires for quali, and fuel.

In reality if they want it to really be an advantage they need to give the open class and concession bikes the whole range of tires rather than the soft-med instead of med-hard. It really was good for quali but hurt Ducati in the races a bit cause the med just didnt last.

Pretty sure it's been delayed, and won't be ready to go by Sepang.

Not Sepang 1 but they still are talking like the second test will be a go. Who knows though.

I don't know if you all have heard the news but the green is going to be back in MotoGP.

From MotoGP.com:

Thursday, 15 January 2015
Online publication Speedweek.com has reported that Moto2™ rider Dominique Aegerter will be testing a Kawasaki “prototype” machine in Jerez later this month on Michelin tyres. The Swiss rider allegedly made contacts during his test with Avintia Racing last season, when he rode the Avintia Kawasaki bike, and has since been asked to provide his feedback once more. Details about the bike or why the test is being done have not been revealed. Kawasaki has not been in MotoGP since 2008, and has not made any official announcements about a return.

honestly I would think this would be the year to come back (just like the suzis and apes) as the reset clock on 2016 sees all concessions that "new and non winning" manufacturers go away. So in 2016 level playing field while this year if you don't win you get to cheat lol

The new GP15 is out

When you watch the release video it is clear how much it has changed. We will see how she goes in a week or so I guess.

Any of you out there in NinjaLand tech savvy enough to help me figure out why my MotoGP video feed is so jerky? Every other video that I watch on my laptop is pretty smooth. The moment that I try to stream from the motoGP website it just freezes and stops and starts.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

sorry doug, but that is a dick post.

Mike, i have had issues with the site in the past, usually depends on the amount of people in your area using the internet and how many people are currently accessing the site. I usually have most problem within a couple hours of a race.

logging out and logging back into the site seems to work for me.

I just checked it and it ran ok this time on the laptop. I'm going to try hard wiring the laptop to the TV via an HDMI port.

Next issue is, and this one really has me PO'd, I can't stream from the site directly on my smart TV. I just today picked up a Samsung Smart TV thinking that I'd make things simple and just use the browser to access the MotoGP site, login and start watching videos. No, no, no. The built in browser loads the site just fine but when I select a video all I get is a black box on the page. Very frustrated.

the processor in those tvs are not as fast as you computer, you are better off using the HDMI cord from computer.

I updated Flash and tried the HDMI and it worked a lot better. It's still not as smooth as the broadcast signal but it'll do. It's an older laptop so the hardware isn't optimal. Have to get the PC fixed.

it is not really expensive, if you consider where the general populations spends money or wastes money. $110 for commercial free racing thats a steal. usually you have to have cable, 100+ channels that you will never use and 1/3 of that programing is commercials, then you have to buy the upgraded package for the channels you want and still you have commercial interruption.

Frigging Awesome (minor spolier below)

Today was the first time I've watched MotoGP live practice. It was an awesome experience. All three sessions today were fantastic.

Cal was definitely incredible and is showing that his decision to move was a smart one. The Ducati's have the top speed in sector 4 I think. Could you imagine a scenario where Honda swaps Pedrosa and Cal?

For me the result of the day was Aleix on the Suzuki in 4th! Man, was Davide Brivio underselling it. They were saying thay'd be satisfied being in the top 10. Lol.

<3 suzuki back in the fray, they're my favorite motogp manufacturer right now so it's great to see them doing so much better than I expected.

I can see cal on pedrosas factory honda, that would be sick. I want cal to do well, been a fan of his since I got into watching motogp

Honestly, suzuki making top 10 is impressive this early on. Suzuki making top 5 is insane

Lorenzo if Marquez screws up. I want to like Marquez but I find him annoying but I like Rossi and he's completely annoying. LoL

^^ I wouldn't laugh at CC35 (I am a biased fan though). Was it a poor turn of events in his favor for the GP15 to be so good after he leaves the team, sure. But there was alot more than just the bike there. Being in a team with a great bike but not fitting in the team atmosphere and generally not being comfortable doesn't seem like a great scenario.

That being said, Cal did just what could be expected of him - finish as the top Satellite bike. Not a bad day considering the qualifying error, from 12 -> 7 and only the 6 factory bikes ahead of him.

I see him with the Casey Stoner attitude, but half the skill.

Desmo Dovi looked exhausted after that race... could barely get off the bike. Ducati is definitely back though!
