Passenger seat strap wanted, new gen 250

My seat strap was cut by a thief who cut my oem Kawi seat bag off of my bike. Brilliant thief. The bag is useless to them. Kawasaki doesn't sell the strap as a separate part. I'd like to find one that's not stretched out or sun faded if possible. Thanks!

I have one on my extra passenger seat. I plan on mounting a tail bag to it so I was going to strip the fabric off of it anyways. If you want to pay shipping its yours.

I'm from Stockton California, one of the worse cities for crime. You may have heard of it for that, or for it being the nucleus of the housing crisis that swept across the country. I'll probably see my tail bag duct taped to the rack on some methamphetamine tweaker's bicycle. When I do, and I guarantee this, he will quickly come to regret stealing it.

Yep a major prison hospital here and a maximum security prison out in the county. Of course, the low-life families of these prisoners have moved here in droves. Our major industry used to be "agridustry", agriculture and it's related industries. Now our major industry is crime and poverty. I want out soooo bad, but the cost of living in other parts of California is prohibitive for me. The city slogan is "Stockton! Someplace Special!" Yeah...... as in .38 special. There is one really nice thing about Stockton though, five major highways lead out of this s***hole!

Just wondering, is there any use for that strap besides for moving the bike around?

I've never found a use for it myself.

The strap on the pillion seat is great for holding tools and fasteners while working on the bike.

There's plenty of affordable non-****** areas between Stockton and the bay. Or at least plenty that are no worse at least... The entire south bay San Jose / peninsula comes to mind, Freemont, El Cer, El Sob, Pinole... Just get out there and start looking.

I find the people that sit on the seat use it for its intended purpose occasionally.

It's a passenger hand hold. The motorcycle manufacturers are actually mandated by law, a Federal law, to install either a strap like these or something else a passenger can hang on to. Some bikes have metal hand holds on the sides adjacent to the passenger seating area. Take a look, all bikes will have something. I think the law went into effect in 1975, the year manufacturers were required to standardize controls, shifter on left, brake on right, add a kill switch, add turn signals, etc. Since it's a mandated safety feature, like a car having to have seat belts, I'm surprised it's not available through Kawasaki. Of course, a new $179 seat comes with one. I just cant shell out the bucks for a new seat just to get the damned strap. I could easily have an upholstery shop sew something up out of vinyl, but I want to keep my bike as pristine as possible and not end up with a mismatched strap. These original straps also have a fairly stiff plastic core sewn inside to keep them from stretching out from use, something an upholstery shop probably couldn't duplicate.

BTW: The Kawasaki tail bag I lost in the theft was purchased back in 2012 and is no longer available. It was built to fit the 250s and 1000s only. Kawasaki makes one that looks exactly like it, but they're now a "universal" fit so they can be used on other models too. They really, really, don't fit the 250 nearly as well as the early version, and are somewhat more time consuming to install/remove. GRRRRR!

I WAS (gulp) WRONG! The 250/1000 specific seat bag is still available! Part number K57003-104A (-105A for the 300). No longer listed as an accessory on Kawi's website, it was found in the dealer's accessory catalog. As an added bonus, now made with larger glove-friendly zipper pulls and they no longer have the big "Kawasaki" printed on the side. Much nicer looking.

No problem bud. I wasnt gonna use it anyways. Now if only I could find the time to build a bag to go back there. I am so tired of wearing a back pack. I wish I wouldn't have given away my tail bag when I sold my last ninjette.

@93etgocart : I built this, locks to the bike, holds a lot. My only regret was not using a bit nicer looking duffle, maybe a solid color. https://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=175601
