wheelies
I have a 650r and have occasionally lifted the front wheel, but never on purpose. Anyway, I was watching some motorcycle crash/ stupid tricks videos on youtube when it hit me... how do these bikes get oil when they are up so vertical? Are they dry sumped? Is my 650?

They don't. Most stunt bikes have an oil relocation kit installed to pump oil into the engine while they're up, otherwise they don't get any. But it isn't going to hurt your engine unless you're riding a long stand up wheelie and keeping it up for a long time so I wouldn't worry, I've had the front end of my 500 up and its fine. Some bikes might have a dry sump oil system, or even come with a relocation kit from the factory, you'd have to ask someone with more knowledge on it than me.

You would think that bikes such as the Street and Speed Triple would be engineered so that they continue to get oil in wheelie mode due to their being marketed as 'hooligan bikes'. Perhaps the mind hive will come up with an answer.

This is an issue with the "Kleen" system on the bikes, they restrict the oil flow (from what I hear) and many people blow an engine because of it. I know on my bike, if you properly remove the kleen system you can keep the bitch up for miles

Forget about wheelies, .........my 250 starves from oil when I brake too hard (oil pressure light shows up).

No, it happens as it is caused by inertia; at least in the 250 pre-gens:

the oil intake tube thing is toward the back of the crank case behind the gears and when you brake hard, the oil goes to the front and the oil pump starts pumping air. the oil pressure sensor is on that external oil line and goes up to the head. being where it is i dont think there would be any issues for wheelies, but braking hard definitely starves it of oil (as you can obviously see every time you do an emergency stop)
i think brian bartlow says he keeps his 250s oil levels above the top mark. i dont see anything wrong with that. would probably keep the gear box a little cooler and would definitely help keep more oil going into the uptake on braking. the crank case breather would probably get more oil in it just from the gears spraying more oil.

the oil pump takes oil from the bottom of the crank case and pumps it to the top of the head. the kleen emissions crap doesnt effect that.
