My cage went over the river and through the woods.
So, as some of you may know if you've looked in the Special Interest Cages thread, I recently made a purchase. Last week, the day after I got my inspection sticker, I pull into my parking space, set the handbrake, and head into work. A little more than an hour later, I get paged to the parking lot. I walk out there, and... my car is not there. Immediately my head is filled with images of my poor car as a twisted wreck. I walk out further, and I see that my car has rolled out of its parking spot, down an embankment, across the road, and into the freakin' woods!
The car is surrounded by coworkers, and one of them says, "It looks like it had a soft landing." I walked around to look at the damage, and it was like, friggin' miraculous. It took a bit of work to tow it out, but I took it to my mechanic and he said it was good to go! There's just a bit of damage in the front (more pics coming), but considering it went on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, I couldn't believe my good luck. It missed a big steel pipe sticking out of the ground by mere inches, that telephone pole you see there, as well as a whole bunch of other Porsche-mangling obstacles. Needless to say, now I always put it in gear and pull hard on the handbrake! My coworkers will pretty much never let me live this down, but I can't say I blame them. The next day, I found a parking ticket in my windshield, dated the day before, with the "Parking in a non-parking area" box ticked. I think I'm going to get a reserved parking sign and put it up in the bushes where my car came to rest. |

That is anyone's worst nightmare coming true. Sorry to read about that.
I'm just gonna say it right now. So how does one who owns a Porsche carrera s even begin to remotely enjoy a ninja 250? Seriously, I would have at least an s1000 rr to compliment my fine choice in performance vehicles. |

Here is the damage. Yes, the Band-Aid is mine. The lower air dam is just a $120 piece of polyurethane, and I already have a replacement. The dings in the paint and fiberglass will probably set me back a bit, but all things considered, I think I got off pretty easy.
To answer your question, @CycleCam303, there are many reasons I still enjoy the Ninjette, but I guess it boils down to not having to be doing 90mph on one wheel with my hair on fire to have fun. That having been said, I would totally take an S1000RR in acid green! |

The early model years were available in "acid green." That's the color I like!
I'm a network engineer/general IT know-it-all. It's not as exciting as those other jobs, but it pays pretty well and with no wife or kids, I have money to spend on crazy things like used Porsches. I could be a male escort, though. Every man has his price! Last futzed with by Ytse Frobozz; August 11th, 2013 at 07:46 AM. |
