Cut out 12 / 13krpm

Hi guys, i have a 2012 fuel injected 250r.

I am having an issue with the bike cutting out at high rpm, it feels like a spark cut. If i switch the ignition on and off she starts of fine and off we go again.

Bike seems to have no other issues other than this? I was wondering if anyone had experienced this before and what it was. Coil pack / ECU?

I don't know if this is your problem, but if your tach is reading a little low, you may be getting into the RPM limiter.

I don't think so. Instead of hitting a limiter the engine shuts off. I then have to restart the engine and all is well.

First time it happened i though i blew the motor!

Scan for error-codes and see what problem is. Manual has procedure to get dash to blink codes. Then look up code in manual to decipher.

I spent some time on it today and so far have changed:

Coil sticks for the spark plugs
ECU
Relay box which sits on top of battery
Fuel pump

No difference, still cuts out at high rpm. When trying to restart i get a flashing FI light. I have to turn off the kill switch and the key and then it will restart.

I have tried reading the codes but get nothing. I am following the procedure of connecting the yellow wire in the rear to the negative terminal on the battery but i get no flashing FI light.

Frustrated, the bike performs brilliantly until you hit high rpms.

No, that procedure is for "dealer mode 1" which flashes errors at that moment only. You need to use procedure for "dealer mode 2" which flashes codes for past stored errors.

i just managed to get some error codes off it

56 - fan relay
67 - 02 sensor
30 - ???

Have unplugged the 02 sensor and the problem has gone!

EDIT - how far up the temp gauge should the fan kick in?

I think about 75% up gauge should trigger fan? Might be issue with fan-relay activation. Test by manually triggering fan-relay and seeing if fan receives power.
