No they are pretty easy to install. On a rating of 1 to 10 (10 being the hardest) i would say its a 3-4?
1. remove both fairings so you can get to the bulbs and mount the ballasts 2. remove bulbs (there's a video on youtube, can be done in less than 5 mins) 3. put in new bulb, connect to ballast and find a spot to place ballast 4. put everything back I did mine under an hour. Also, I got mines off eBay. It cost me only 34 bucks with shipping and comes with two years warranty. Had them for almost a year now and they are still going strong.. and SUPER BRIGHT. If you check out on youtube, gsxr750speedemon (my username) i have a video where you can see where i hooked up my ballast on the 250. |

A word of advice on hid kits, the cheap hid kits might fog up the headlight lens from the inside, this is caused by UV rays which the hid bulbs emit.
It wont happen overnight, but slowly over a period of time you might start to notice foggy spots on the lens, which will get bigger over time. I recommend to buy hid kits with better quality Quartz glass UV filtering hid bulbs, such as this kit: http://bkmoto.com/index.php?route=pr...&product_id=75 |

They could be buffed out with alcohol pads, but that requires splitting the headlights. its true the sun is shining all the time, and if you look at older cars the lenses get yellow and hazy. so basically an hid bulb is 100x more intense when its on, as it shines super bright and much closer to the reflectors and lenses, so it might happen sooner or later. read this review from a customer who actually had hazing from hid DDM kit and bought the bkmoto kit i've mentioned. http://www.600rr.net/vb/showthread.php?t=288991 Next time i have a headlight with the hazing i will post pictures. |

I have a butt ton of pictures ready for a DIY on how to do a hi/lo H4 kit from DDM tuning. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
It's really not hard at all. You just have to have some idea how to get it to work. The kits are pretty much PNP. HID's aren't really hard to install. Just make sure you vinyl off your headlight to block glare. I got most of the glare off of mine, but I'm definitely going to be looking into a projector. Vinyl just doesn't do as good of a job as I want. note my insane headlight output that is mostly controlled (no scatter in the fog) The headlight is absolutely insane when you put it on high beam (points it up by pulling the bulb back further into the reflector) and walk about 50 yards out in front of the bike and look at it. It's blinding really. A hi/lo kit is needed so you can aim it down but point it up on command for a high beam. and here's what my headlight looks like with vinyls to cut glare. |

oh sorry, I saw a pregen in your picture and assumed you were talking about that one.
my bad Then forget what I'm talking about. Get a bixenon projector, a basic HID kit with a D2S bulb, and just do a retrofit |

The retrofit source if you're looking to do a full retrofit.
If you're not, you're gonna be putting out a ton of glare. (DDM tuning kits seem to work fine and don't cost much) Your high beam should still be halogen because HID's take a minute to warm up and you want your high beam to come on right away so you can flash if needed. It's also hard on HID bulbs to turn them on and off. For real though, all this info is already on here. Plenty of people have popped an HID kit in their headlight. |

6k? idk. One of the Canadian guys found some color matched Halogens. I think they were Hella's and they were 6k color but I'm not sure off the top of my head.
You know a 4300k HID will roughly match a Sylvania Silverstar ultra in color from your point of view right? I have a 4500k HID from DDM and it's almost identical in color to my Silverstar, but with a little blue. The Silverstar was pure white. You could even go for a 3500k HID kit and that would be perfect prolly. |
