Harley Drill team rider lowsides.

This was at the BACA (Bikers Against Child Abuse) Charity ride in Orlando. The Orlando Harley drill team was putting on a demonstration.

Link to original page on YouTube.

Stuff happens. He was OK, other than what looked like a sprained wrist and a little rash. He bounced his head pretty hard on the tarmac, looks like he KO'd himself. Helmets save lives. In this case, I'm sure it saved him from a few other nasty wounds/injuries...

There were a couple of us there, I think Sombo got a much better angle than I did on this.

The other angle shows it a bit better, Sombo overheard someone say that his throttle stuck. He popped a little wheelie (maybe) and dumped it. From the angle I was at (video) it did look like he lost traction due to a dragging hard part. From the side, looks like the bike bit him.

Actually... they were recruiting new riders. If you have an Electroglide (Whatever the hell that is.)

He didn't quite get up and walk away... He got helped up after about 5 minutes of laying there and helped into an ambulance. Where he was for a pretty good amount of time, as well.

He took a pretty hard tumble for a low speed drop. He was out. He was, however walking around later, and waved goodbye to everyone as they left. That was a good thing to see. I would not have been surprised if they had taken him to an ER. Helmet or not, concussions are a bitch!

Ouch. I bet that was more costly and embarrassing than it was painful.

Were there other bike displays there? Would be great to see an all Ninjette display somewhere.

I'll try to get mine up when I get home from work tonight. From the side you see as he hit the throttle a bit too hard and the front came up about an inch just as he goes to put it in a hard lean. He wasn't out, he was kept from getting up by the first responders so they could properly check him out and make sure he didn't have any serious injuries. All he had was some scrapes and bruises, nothing else.

Bike slid out from under him. Looks like a high-side from this angle, but the bike lands in front of him, he doesn't get tossed over it like a high side. Watch it closely, the bike goes down, and he goes off of it. The bike landed on it's left side. This bike was heavy, so it had more than enough mass to put him down hard. If he were going faster, he likely would have been tossed over the right side of the bike in a high side crash.

TomAto, tomahto, either way, his day sucked.

Sombo was closer than I was, he looked out to me. But if he was responding right away, good thing.

Reminded me of Bruce Rossmeyer's funeral when six of the motorcycle escorts crashed.

If you watch closely you can see his front tire come up slightly as he goes into a lean and then down he goes. The bike flipping over does not make it a high side. He went off on the low side of the bike and after he was on the ground the bike then caught and flipped. In order for it to be a high side he would have had to go over the side of the bike with the possibility of it rolling over him. Remember these are 900+ lb bikes they are using.

looks like he grabbed too much throttle causing the bike to buck during his turn. should have watched Kieth code rule #1 - "Once the throttle is cracked on, it is rolled on evenly, smoothly, and consistently throughout the remainder of the turn.".

another reason why you wear ATGATT. some lil baseball helmet is not gonna save your chin.

Oh crap! I feel bad for doing it, but I laughed.

The part that got me was the bike's trunk storage coming open at the end of the crash, spilling a huge amount of clothing, bottles of water, snacks and who knows what else onto the asphalt.

What a piece of high-performance machinery that thing is. Was he all loaded up for a trip to the laundromat after the show?

Edit: Okay, I went back and watched it again just to check, but dammit, the 'yard-sale' at the end is still funny so I guess I'm goin' straight to hell.

I'm thankful the crash happened early in the clip because it was deadly boring otherwise. A bunch of guys riding big old milk-cows around in a small pasture.

I did overhear him later saying that he did get too much throttle and for some reason couldn't let off. I think he knows what went wrong but I didn't stick around long enough to find out all the details, had to get back to my bike to start getting ready for the BACA ride.

I like how in the first video the Disney Security guy (Guy wearing yellow) is the last one to go over to the incident (at a very slow pace). Must have been thinking "Ok they went over and it hasn't blown up yet so I think I'll go have a look."

Nah Disney only has security. The Orange County Sheriff provides police to Disney. The sheriffs' deputy most likely didn't arrive until after the camera stopped recording.

They were never called in. The Disney Security was off to the side calling in the EMT's before he went over to assist.
