Engine Swap: 2008 in a 2006 body
So my issue is pretty straight forward, but I haven't been able to get any straight forward answers. I have a 2006 Ninja 250, and being a dumb new rider, I blew the engine by not watching my oil. I am purchasing a new engine soon, but the one I am looking at is off of a 2008 Ninja.
Will a 2008 engine fit on my 2006 frame? Sorry if this is a dumb question; I just want to make sure.... |

i think that's what racerx did? or maybe it was the other way around. i think you have to also swap the front engine mounts. don't trust me though i haven't done this.

You can swap the engines back and forth between chassis. The front engine mount to the head is the only issue as far as bolting it in. Pre gen engines need pre gen mounts to go in a 08 and up chassis and vise versa. The thermostat housing is a little different as far as it's mounting location and the coolant hose that goes Into the cylinder head. Wiring is another story. My harnesses have few wires and are easily switched back and forth.
