LA To Cabo San Lucas

I'm planning on leaving this Sunday for this trip:

http://goo.gl/maps/R4ywq

It'll be 8 days total, and each stop on the map is where I intend to spend the night each day.

The bike is in excellent condition, recently changed tires, oil, adjusted chains.

This would be my first long motorcycle trip. The longest I've ridden in the past in 1 day is 230 miles.

Any advice/suggestions? Has anyone ridden that road before?

Nah, you'll probably be fine. There are some good long-distance riding tips in the sticky section of our Riding Skills area. In some of the areas you are going, I wouldn't recommend riding much at night. Not as much from a crime perspective, but from a road quality + wildlife perspective. I've heard numerous stories about pavement (and non-pavement) surprises. If you don't have one yet, I'd consider a SPOT tracking device, to both keep people back at home aware of how you were getting on, and also to be able to summon help if it were needed, no matter where you found yourself. It doesn't rely on any cell phone networks, which makes it quite useful in some remote areas.

Yeah, my ass is going to hurt, hopefully from riding so many miles, and not from getting raped. I don't intend to ride at night at all. Although from what I read, it is relatively safe once I get out of Tijuana.

It's a well known fact that if you're in a country that speaks spanish that isn't spain you're likeliness of getting raped goes up 400%

The spanish really sucked at colonization, they made a load of really **** countries lol.

Well, I just got back from this amazing trip. Logged 2,650 miles in 8 days. I got 7 hours of GoPro video that I'll edit down to about 10 minutes and post it on youtube. I liked my ninjette before but now I absolutely love it. I'll post a trip report soon with pictures and videos.

Glad you made it back safely . Riding a motorcycle through Mexico isn't really on my list of Must Do's.

How many times did you get raped?

Did customs get your load when you came back across the border or did you make it back under the radar?

Once again (because you probably didn't want to answer the first time), how many times did you get raped?

Haha. No rappage happened. In fact, I felt pretty safe and didn't have any scary moments at all.

No trouble at the Tijuana border crossing. I was able to lane split and do it in 20 minutes instead of the 3.5 hour wait that that afternoon for cars. I was actually filming with my gopro when I crossed the border, the INS guy didn't even notice until after like a minute of so. He then told me to turn it off. Apparently I was lucky since a lot of people in the past got their cameras confiscated and/or got a very severe lecture/questioning.
