Is this normal for a bike? **PIC**

I didn't notice it till today but there are 2 hoses hanging down underneath my bike. It doesn't seem to connect to anything. The shorter hose is dripping coolant and the longer one doesn't seem to leak anything.

My '05 has the same hoses hanging down and one that sometimes drags on the ground like the longer one in your pic, they are just vent/overflow tubes from the carb or engine. They are normal but im not sure if they are supposed to be so long. I was thinkin about cuttin mine making it shorter

Yup - was should be the overflow for the coolant expansion tank and the other is a drain of the air box if I remember correctly.

Haha thanks guys, I didn't noticed those hoses until today when i let my father in law ride the bike in his backyard. I thought he must have ran over some branches and pulled the hoses out from somewhere. What a relief.

I will also take any bikes that are defected with the "hanging hose" syndrome. Also, a good way to check these hoses is to suck really hard on them to see if anything will come out.

*I will not be liable for anit-freeze posioning*

Yup, you beat me too it...

I always think it's funny when people discover that their bike is a boy.

You'd better be careful posting pics like that of a one year old bike. You could do some serious time for child pornography.

kkim and jbell, you're both too far. I'm only 90 minutes or so from South Jersey and offer complimentary pickup service.

We MUST get these defective bikes out of the owners drivewa.... I mean off the road. Yeah. That's it.

I had the same concerns when I first saw it on my bike. But I got a question for you guys... why is one of the tubes longer than the other? I'm thinking about cutting it off because my bike is female

You may NOT want to cut them off. As long as they aren't dragging, I would leave them alone. If you cut them too short there is a chance some gas could get on a hot exhaust and create a hot seat for you.

Instead of cutting, I'd just gently push them up into the bike where they aren't as noticeable. Can't see mine without getting an up-skirt shot of her

Just pull up your zipper. You shouldn't be going around in public with your hose hanging out anyway. Didn't your mama teach you ANYTHING?

Those are just the catheter tubes, and were new for the 2008+ models. I really like mine... I can go all day now without a bathroom break. People don't like to talk about it much, because it is embarrassing, but it is sort of implied when people talk about bringing a backpack or tank bag with water bladders. They just assume you know that once you drink them empty, you will need to fill them back up. Don't feel embarrassed though, the only dumb question is the one you don't ask.

I've had mine for over two years and I've never noticed. I guess I don't look at things very closely.
