I disconnected the light green wire from the bike plug which is the white wire on the koso gauge and no signal on the koso gauge, this means I have the correct wire. No when I do the test with the tester it doesn't do anything and I hooked up the gear indicator and it doesn't do anything either. I'm guessing the gear indicator isn't working properly.

Yes, if you hook the white wire from the gauge straight to the battery the gauge should read neutral. If not, then there is a chance that the indicator is malfunctioning.

Just found out that if I touch the negative pole in the battery with the white wire the gauge change to neutral. So the gauge is good. I just need to find the sweet spot.

This thing is alive and works real nice, so far worth the $28. You guys just need to Fab some brackets to put the sensors and one for the magnet.
Is the light green wire the one needed to connect the wite wire from the gear indicator. White from the koso gauge side. |

Yes please do! I installed my ebay gear indicator a few weeks back and just mounts the senors on the sprocket cover and let's just say its pretty useless. I placed the magnets on the shifter and it did work for awhile after stationary testing but as soon as I went for a ride it displays just about every gear BUT the gear you are actually in lol.

Some pics of the bracket. This was a test fit so I'm fabing another one tomorrow and paint it. The fits 3 pics is the bracket with the sensors and the last 2 is the bracket with the magnet.
Installation was simple after I figured out the neutral issue. After everything is installed it takes quite sometime to adjust the magnet. I still need to work on that tomorrow because I'm having a small false reading with first gear. Just need some more adjustment. I b.believe I can correct this by adding an additional magnet, getting some tomorrow. |

Not the prettiest thing, but well done with what we have to work with. I'm thinking some double-sided sticky tape, or similar, could be good to use on the switches until you get the placement perfect.... then bolt them down.

A few more of the gauge installed. Planning on incorporate the gauge somehow to the koso bezel. Will be working on this in a few weeks.
Any question guys, feel free to ask. I will try to answer theme the best I can. English is my second language so sometimes is hard for me to use the right words. I would love to do a DIY but I think I could be kind of confusing for you guys to understand me. I could try if it helps in any way. |

Your "cockpit" is amazing looking, great job!
When I compare your pics of the magnetic switched to the pics on ebay, they are mounted differently. It appears they flip one switch upside down, where you turned yours around. I don't know if that makes any difference functionally, but thought I would point it out in case it helps.

That's why I'm doing a second one, that was a test fit. I used some double tape (automotive type not the 3m) on them but they weren't holding the sensors to well and that's why i used the tie raps. Whanted to make sure everything was going to work. I'll post some pics when I have the new bracket. |

The reason I put the sensors that way is because I when I was doing the bracket I use a piece of aluminium that I had laying around and was to short, so I had put it up side down. I don't think it hurts but you have to take in consideration the wiring since is up side down. I connected severing and whn I was down shifting the gauge as giving me the wrong gears. So I had to check my wiring and then everything was good to go. Right now is working good, just need to fine tune it and fine the sweet spot. |

I have one of these on the way as well. Hopefully they'll last. It's good to see that they at least can be successfully installed.

I didn't use the bike today, but tested the bike on the stand, went though all the gears (up/down shifting) a few times and worked very nice. Didn't miss any gear. I think I found the sweet spot when adjusting the magnet.

Rode the bike the whole week and put about 400 miles on it and the gear indicator worked perfect.

OK... KC, I've been thinking about you for the past two days, which is not a good thing. I'm about to go into the ER with some $hite in my eye.... hopefully it is just a scratch, but I'm really scared. I had a "phone appointment" (good job Kaiser... how ironic), and they don't seem too concerned because it apparently doesn't sound as bad is it is "supposed to be," but it isn't going away two days later..... I cried in front of my wife and young children. I'm not ashamed of crying, but don't want to scare them. I'm really freaked. At least the Mrs. agreed to get naked first.... I guess I'm not dying.......... although it feels like it. **braceing for all the "baby" remarks.**

What type of "$hite" in your eye? Did it happen while on your ninjette? Eyes are pretty resilient, so hopefully all turns out well as soon as they get out whatever needs to get out.

I'm not sure... I was in my garage, and think it was airborne, because it happened as I leaned over to empty my shop-vac. There are some metal filings on the work bench, so hopefully it wasn't that (probably wasn't). I ended up going to er last night, and dr didn't find anything in there, but said I have a scratched cornea. I was a pretty anxious patient, and begging for drugs didn't get me anywhere. The cool thing is I just walked straight in, and the place was EMPTY.... it's funny how that still takes a couple hours though.

If not, I want to give up my space to someone else who may be eagerly waiting to get on the list.

If there is interest, I can put together a kit to have the best gear indicators on the market work on Ninja 250's.
