stop & go tire plugger review

good kit that works. what would you do if ya got a flat and where in the middle of nowhere? got this one on amazon

I have the same one.

I picked up a nail in the center of a near-new rear tire on my GSXR two years ago. Used this to plug it and have been riding on it ever since with zero leakage.

I wouldn't ride that tire on the track for obvious reasons but for the right kind of puncture it's terrific.

Just make sure that if you use it, follow the directions FULLY.... including grabbing the stem of the mushroom and pulling it hard to seat the head before cutting the excess off.

Yep - been using those for almost 20 years at this point. The kits aren't good for life on the shelf (or in a tankbag) - you need to replace the rubber plugs every few years as they dry out to the point that they are not as effective. Have had good luck using these to get home in the past, as well as to run for a good time/distance afterwards on a plugged tire, as long as it wasn't headed to a racetrack.

$9 for 25 of them

Also - the Pocket version of the set fits better in bikes than the Standard setup, and it works just fine.

I've used these for a few years & they are excellent, for a straight through nail or screw puncture. The only thing that you don't get in the compact kit is a pair of pliers to pull the plug tight before trimming. Just remember when trimming pull plug tight then let it go, then trim flush with tyre surface. I've had 4 of these in one rear tyre for 1000 miles. Don't ask most unlucky tyre I ever owned.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that mushroom plugs like this are the only ones that tire manufacturers give the nod to. Not all manufacturers, though... most say that ANY plug no matter what is only for emergency travel to the nearest dealer.

Probably corporate CYA. Design of mushroom plug looks like it would be just as secure as a patch... if installed properly. Seems a lot of people used them as permanent repair without any issues.
