Went down on GMR (pics)

Going down GMR im going down this corner (pics below) and honestly not really sure what happened. I was looking "through the turn" and definitley missed the huge patch of dirt that was there and im pretty sure I also hit a rock. Anyways before I know it Im sliding down the street but I was only going 30-35mph tops. Thankfully I was wearing my brand new leathers and boots for the 1st time and I came away without any damage but my bike did not fare so well. Scratched fairing, bar ends, front brake lever, engine case. Front forks leaking oil, dent in the rim and a flat front tire (although im assuming the air just got out).

Even more messed up part: We're on the shoulder and I call AAA to pick the bike up. We go down to eat because the guy says he would take about an hour. I get a call from the AAA guy and he says CHP is towing my bike. I go to the impound lot 10 miles away and pay $200 to get it out. The reason CHP impounded ? - "VISUAL HAZARD", a bike 5+ feet off the shoulder for 50 minutes is impounded because its a "visual hazard". bullsh!t seriously. So then I go to the lot, pay the $200 and then have AAA tow it to one of the riders because he know's someone who will fix my bike up for cheap. So that's that. Hopefully all that i need is new fork seals and a new or fixed rim. picture time... Ill post some pics of the suit tomorrow. Nothing too bad.

Dent in the rim

Glad your okay. Good for you for wearing your gear. Out of curiosity, how long have you owned the 250 before you sold it?

Yeah one of the guys I rode with, his friend is a mechanic and he works out his house garage for cheap so he's gonna have a look.

me too, I didn't feel a thing when I got up but Im sure i'll feel it in the morning I was kinda suprised too, I've ridden with ocmoto a few times and usually they are geared up. I guess this was supposed to be a "cruise" because the organizers were riding 2 up (3 of them). You (and anyone in socal) should ride with us too, nice people. A guy named Agustin organizes alot of the rides.

I wish I had that hookup. For my front forks, axle, and triptree it ran me $500 to straighten.

I told you that bike was toooo much for you.

Rocks will jump out in front of you when you're on a GSXR.

Will's Rim Repair in Greenville, SC can fix that rim.

Glad you're OK now get a scooter!

Bummer Dude! Good your OK, hope you get her fixed up soon.

Lucky you weren't with your bike when the CHP came. Couple friends got tickets when they went down. Failure to control vehicle on mountain road. Total BS after wrecking there bikes.........

sorry to hear about your crash - be thankful that your puck looks like that rather than your kneecap! Hope you learned some lessons from this so that you can avoid repeating this type of thing...

wow for just straightening ? That costs more than to get a used set ! For parts I need new forks, a new wheel and a new tire. Probably will cost me about 500 for parts.

Yeah some of those turns on GMR catchy you by surprise sometimes. I'm pretty sure it's that one (although about 5-6 of those turns look identical) is the one I've drug my pegs on the way up (on a couple of occasions). It's very disconcerting and I couldn't imagine doing it WITHOUT boots with toe sliders. One time It kicked my foot back and the peg drug through the whole turn. I thought I was going to crap myself

The leathers are FTW. When I finally chunked it down in S.D. on a similar road my pucks and toe sliders showed some grinding, but otherwise not a scratch on me. It takes those 15 mph (although on the bike you're taking them at 30-35mph) spills as a snack

got my bike back today runs great. Im not gonna post pics since nothing changed cosmetically. I bought a yoshi TRC slip on but Im going to put that on later. total cost of failure :

front wheel- 180
front forks and lower triple - 180
front tire - $88
Labor - $120 + 20 for mounting tire
Total: $588.

The plastics are in surprisingly good shape considering the damage.
