Nice! Your whole dash is fr1gg1n sweet! What is the gold thing with the dial/knob? Is that some sort of steering damper or something?

Why must you entice me with those pictures of your front?? Does your iPhone GPS still work without a data plan? I have a 3G sitting in my closet and am too lazy to charge it to find out. I imagine it needs data to download the maps. What are you using to hold it up? Thanks!

PS We are no longer bike twins

Gps is free and does not need data plan. I have both navigon and tom-tom on that iPhone so gps works fine. I just used a wide aluminum piece and bent it to L-shape and used double side tape and on the phone I use velco so I can take it off if need to.

Yellow knob is scotts steering damper

If you were to choose one of those programs, which one would be better? I currently use AT&T navigator which requires a data plan to constantly download maps.

I'm not sure about Apple, but with Android based phones you can download various apps that will tell you speed, average speed, bearing, 1-60/100 time, quarter mile time, your pitch and roll, etc. A nice feature of a few of these apps that I found out recently is that while driving in the cage if you throw your phone up on your dash with the screen towards your windshield it will reflect your speed such as a HUD at night time. See image below.

Another absolutely awesome app I've found is called Torque. Torque, in addition to a blue tooth adapter for your car's diagnostic port, will display all real-time information about your vehicle (Boost, RPM, Speed, Temp, Oil Pres. etc.).

Navigon seems a little better as far as bells & whistles although it's slower than tom-tom. Both do the same. Whole US and Canada maps are stored on the phone for each program. If you use the stock iPhone google map then you need data from Internet to download.

That's pretty cool Tim. I think there are quite a bit of apps for speed, timers, etc for the iPhone. I just don't dig around to get them since I rarely use it. The Koso gauge does have most of the info displayed for me. I do have one iPhone apps called Ride Logger that basically log and save all your ride route with speeds etc so you know where you went and upload & share your favorite routes with friends.

Nice post, this is inspiring.

As soon as I obtain a cradle I'm going to fab up a metal mount that the plastic cradle will mount to that I can put my phone in when I need directions.

Thanks again for this posting, great job!

Jesus that is an awesome set up u have but I don't know if id trust Velcro to keep me phone off the street and also trust myself around the dash but it's a great idea and has me in my garage looking at my bike now how much did this gages cost you I'd love that same set up and if the Velcro stuck on the phone all day? That would get kind of annoying IMO

The iPhone 4 is what I'm using now. This one on the bike is iPhone 3G...I have no use for it after the upgrade so a bike is a good place for it. Velco works fine..I have a big slap of it on the back of the phone so it sticks on well...however it needs to come off if it happens to rain on me..I never ride in the rain but who knows..it may pour on me one day.
