What size of tire do you folks generally use with the 250 for track purposes and why?

on my '08 i run 120/70 BT003 soft front & a 140/70 BT090 rear cause thats what the bridgestone man tells me to. works great, but thinking about trying slicks at my next event if my bridgestone sponsor has the right sizes.

For my pre-08 bikes I use either either Dunlop GT501s in 110/90-16 front and 130/90-16 rear for 16" wheels or Pirelli Diablo Supercoursas in 110/70-17 SC-1 front and 150/60-17 SC-1 or SC-2 rear with widened 17" wheels.

These are the tires/sizes that I have found work best at the track. For '08 and newer bikes I can't help you but it appears that the Bridgestone BT090s are popular.

what kind of performance advantage/disadvantage does having a 140 in the rear give you..what does increasing to 120 give you up front...does it require modification to my (stock) 08 250r? I know i lose some of the flickability, and ive heard that its slower having larger tires...is it more stable?

Yep, 501's for the old ones.

Michelin for the new. 110 or 120 front your choice. 120 or 150 rear your choice.

You've got to try it to see what works w/ your style.

Michelin grip better, but the 150 rear, doesn't last as long as bridgestone. Its not too bad though.

we can use slicks in F4 right? are they available for our bikes from bridgestone? any reason not to use them? i scored some tire warmers, so i've got that covered.

i'm thinking after i go through these 'stones i have now i might try some slicks. i'm probably going to give up E Superstock for the season... its too expensive. if theres more 250s in it next year, or if they move it to saturday then i'll do it again.....

I think slicks would be overkill, IMHO.

I ran our 1st gen, w/ the 17's yesterday at the hill. Got down to 33's.

Much faster now than my fastest times w/ the old tires/rims.

ahh... man, you had me scared. my first weekend ever on the 250 was at OHR and we were still getting the bike dialed in. i was doing mid 40's.... improving to low 30's sounded impossible... haha

would like to get out there on friday for the trackday, but too busy at work to take the time off. hoping i can get up to speed quick saturday morning. unfortunately i won't be running the 250 in the endurance since i'm dedicated to a tmgp team on a 65.

You know now that I think about the Oak Hill, we were doing 39-41's on the old bike w/ the 16's.

After riding w/ the 17's I'm hoping to get into the 35-36's. But consistant 37-38's would be fine.
